Coccygeal epithelial passage

The coccygeal epithelial course is an abnormality of the skin development - a blindly terminating tubular skin deepening in the interannual fold, usually containing deflated epithelium, fat and hair. When the coccygeal drainage is blocked or broken, the retention cyst is formed, the inflammatory process and purulent swelling are attached.

Symptoms, course. Mucous and purulent discharge from the mouth of the coccygeal, periodic exacerbation of pain in this zone with an inflammatory reaction of the skin around, and sometimes with an increase in body temperature, the formation of an abscess and multiple secondary festering fistulas.

The diagnosis is based on the characteristic localization of the process, the presence of an external opening of the coccygeal path 2-3 cm above the margin of the anus in the interannual fold. At the same time, there is never a connection between the fistula and the rectum.

Treatment is surgical. The prognosis is favorable after a radical operation. Conservative therapy has only a temporary effect.
