Paragrippus (from the Latin para - "about") is an acute respiratory viral disease that resembles influenza in clinical course, but differs from it by less intoxication, longer course and more pronounced changes from the upper respiratory tract, mainly the larynx. Children are more often parainfluenza.

Symptoms of parainfluenza

The disease begins gradually. The patient is disturbed by a runny nose, a dry cough, pain and a tickling in the throat, there is hoarseness of the voice. Body temperature with parainfluenza usually does not exceed 38 ° C. Indisposition is malaise, weakness, weakness, headache of moderate intensity. The disease is lethargic and quite long. Adults carry parainfluenza easier than children.

In children, a false croup is often observed, which develops as a result of the laryngeal edema, which proceeds with signs of insufficient breathing and requires urgent medical attention. Attack often occurs at night. The child cries, worries, he has a rough, "barking" cough, breathing is difficult, there is a cyanotic skin. With this development of events, you should immediately call the ambulance team.

The disease can be complicated by pneumonia (pneumonia). At the same time the body temperature rises to 39 ° C, there are pains in the chest, chills, headache, cough is worse, it may appear in the sputum of blood.

Folk remedies for parainfluenza

Treatment with juices

  • Recipe: 100 ml of carrot and radish juice, 2 tsp. Honey.
    Mix the juices, add honey. Stir the mixture thoroughly.
    When you cough, take 1 tbsp. L. Mixture every hour.

Honey treatment

  • Recipe: 1 large leaf of aloe, 100 g of honey.

    1 tbsp. L. Collect 1 cup of boiling water, put on a slow fire, bring to a boil and cook for 1-2 minutes, then strain and add honey.
    Take 1 glass 2-3 times a day.
  • Recipe: 3 tbsp. L. Of dry raspberries.
    Berries pour 2 cups of boiling water, cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Broth to insist 3-3,5 h, then strain.

  • Recipe: 0.5 cup anise seeds, 1 tbsp. L. Cognac, 0.25 cups of lime honey.

  • Recipe: 7 dry clover heads, honey to taste.

Traditional treatments for parainfluenza

  • Patients are recommended bed rest, prescribe a special diet with the exception of products that irritate the gastrointestinal tract. There is also abundant warm, but not hot, drink.
  • With a mild course of the disease, it is possible to limit therapy to the appointment of symptomatic agents (cardiac, antipyretic at a temperature above 38.5 ° C, antitussive, drugs that improve bronchial patency).
  • In severe cases, the introduction of gamma globulin is shown, which helps the body fight infection (creates passive artificial immunity). Assign also immunoglobulins, containing antibodies to parainfluenza viruses.
  • When hyperthermia (high temperature), procedures are performed to cool the body, prescribe drugs that reduce heat production (paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid and other antipyretics), as well as agents that reduce body allergies (soup-rastin, diphenhydramine).
  • In uncomplicated course, antibiotics are not shown, but due to the difficulty of recognizing complications for young children, antibacterial drugs are administered from the first days and hours of the disease. Antibiotics appoint and with the development of the syndrome of false croup.
    Children with asthmatic syndrome are prescribed antibiotics with great care, since the development of bronchospasm may be directly related to the allergenicity of antibiotics.
  • When accessing complications (pneumonia, bronchitis, otitis, etc.) antibacterial drugs are prescribed taking into account the sensitivity of microorganisms to them. Treatment of complications is carried out according to general rules.
  • If there is stenosis of the larynx (false croup), which is more common in children of younger age group, hot foot baths, steam inhalations are prescribed. For oral administration, sedative, spasmolytic and corticosteroid preparations are used, which reduce spasm and inflammatory response.
    Treatment of groats should be carried out by a qualified doctor, since only he can quickly and correctly navigate in such an emergency situation. After carrying out intensive medical measures, the patient needs to create a quiet environment, constantly moisturize the air, give a warm drink (tea, milk) and follow the doctor's recommendations.
