Respiratory syncytial infection (PC infection) is an acute viral disease characterized by moderate intoxication and lesion of predominantly lower respiratory tracts with frequent development of bronchitis, bronchiolitis and pneumonia. The source of the disease is a sick person. Young children are more often affected, but adults are also susceptible to this disease.

Symptoms of PC infection

The disease most often begins with an increase in body temperature to 37.5-38 ° C, chills, moderate headache, weakness, apathy. Perhaps the appearance of pain in the muscles, sometimes - aches in the body. Symptoms of intoxication can be expressed in different ways - from minor to severe toxicosis, accompanied by severe headaches, vomiting, epistaxis, small-to-moderate hemorrhages in the soft palate. Catarrhal changes are manifested in the form of a cold, cough, there is a moderate reddening of the soft palate, sometimes - the posterior pharyngeal wall. The leading symptom of the disease is a dry, paroxysmal cough, debilitating the patient, which can persist for up to 3 weeks. The disease is often complicated by pneumonia.

Traditional means of treatment of MS infection

Treatment of the disease is mostly symptomatic and depends on the severity of the disease.

  • Treatment is carried out at home.
  • Assign bed rest and a sparing diet.
  • Expectorants (potions with althae, thermopsis, mucaltin), soothing drugs are used. In severe cases, as well as in connection with complications of patients, they are hospitalized in a hospital where the therapy is carried out.
  • With the expressed anxiety of the patient (especially the child), calming medications are prescribed with mandatory consideration of the patient's body weight. At the phenomena of cardiovascular insufficiency, cardiac glycosides are shown.
  • In the presence of obstructive syndrome (cough) in combination with pneumonia, antibacterial therapy is shown simultaneously with hormonal corticosteroid preparations (for improving bronchial patency by removing the inflammatory reaction, edema and spasm of the bronchial tree).
  • From the first days of the disease, the introduction of interferon, which helps the body to mobilize its own forces in the fight against infection, is desirable.
  • To mobilize the body in the fight against infection and prevent complications, the patient can be given a chest massage.
    BUT! Massage in the acute period of the disease, in the presence of a temperature reaction is contraindicated. Only when the process abates, the impact has a positive effect.

Massage

Under the influence of massage, spasm of respiratory muscles is eliminated, the mobility of the chest and diaphragm is restored, the elasticity of the lung tissue increases, and blood and lymph circulation improves. Therefore, massage is indicated to restore bronchial patency and prevent pulmonary complications.

The patient's position is sitting or lying down. The massage is performed in the following order:

  • Massage of the widest and trapezius muscles;
  • Massage of the sternocleidomastoid muscles;
  • Interblade area massage;
  • Massage of the interblade area and suprapastal zones;
  • Massage of the supra- and subclavian zones;
  • Massage of acromioclavicular and sternoclavicular joints;
  • Massage of large pectoral and anterior thoracic cog muscles;
  • Massage of intercostal spaces;
  • Massage of the diaphragm (vibration and rhythmic pressure of the palms along the X-XII ribs from the sternum to the spine);
  • Indirect lung massage (vibration and rhythmic pressure above the pulmonary fields behind and in front).

Classical massage techniques - stroking, rubbing, kneading, vibration. Particular attention in this disease should be given to vibration, as vibratory movements and rhythmic pressure help to facilitate sputum withdrawal and promote lung drainage, which is the best and most effective prevention of secondary bacterial complications of respiratory syncytial infection.

Do not forget that even when the patient is at home, treatment should be controlled by a doctor.
