Rhinovirus infection (infectious rhinitis) is an acute respiratory infection that is caused by rhinoviruses and is characterized by a predominant lesion of the nasal mucosa and nasopharynx with mildly expressed symptoms of general intoxication.

A spike in morbidity occurs in the spring and autumn. Source of infection - patients and virus carriers, spread infection by airborne droplets. Infection through infected items is not excluded.

Symptoms of rhinovirus infection

The disease begins acutely with general malaise, chills, pain and heaviness in the head, a slight increase in body temperature, aches all over the body, sneezing, sensation of nasal congestion, foreign body sensation in the throat, coughing. The leading symptom is abundant discharge from the nose, first watery, and then mucous. In addition, cough, lacrimation, reddening and swelling of the eyelids appear. Traditional treatments for rhinovirus infection

Treatment of the disease is symptomatic.

  • The first day is effective use of leukocyte interferon, which is buried in the nasal passages.
  • Showing a warm plentiful drink, hot baths for the feet.
  • To improve nasal breathing, vasoconstrictive drugs are used: a 0.1% solution (for children 0.05%) of a solution of galazoline or naphthyzine (1-2 drops in each nasal passage 3 times a day), boron-adrenaline Drops, 1% or 2% solution of ephedrine hydrochloride.
  • With a headache, take analgin, paracetamol and other anti-inflammatory drugs. To reduce the allergization of the body prescribe suprastin or diazolin.
REMEMBER: vasoconstrictor drops should not be used for more than 3-4 days because of the possible development of a "medicamental" cold, which is much harder to get rid of. Therefore, you can use the advice of traditional medicine.
  • Physiotherapeutic methods of treatment use electrophoresis, UFO , UHF on the wings of the nose.
Ultraviolet irradiation is widely used in the practice of treating rhinovirus infection, because ultraviolet rays are much more effective than other parts of the radiation spectrum in their chemical activity.
At the same time, they have the lowest depth of penetration into the tissue - only up to 1 mm. That is why their direct influence is limited by the surface layers of irradiated skin and mucous membranes. It has long been known that local irradiation causes and general reactions of the body, its organs and systems.
With a well-selected individual dose, ultraviolet irradiation gives a high therapeutic effect in this disease.
The therapeutic effect consists of anti-inflammatory (and, consequently, anti-edema), analgesic, desensitizing, immunostimulating, as well as restorative action. UFO promotes relief of symptoms of rhinitis due to the above mechanisms.
The procedure is carried out in the conditions of a medical institution under the supervision of a nurse.
  • Drug electrophoresis has many advantages over the administration of the drug through the gastrointestinal tract.
This is due to the local administration of the drug already in the form of ions, the formation of a "depot" of the drug directly in the pathological focus, the possibility of introducing several drugs.
To conduct the procedure, the patient in the nasal passages at a depth of 1-2 cm is introduced moist gauze tampons or turundas.
Free ends of turunde connect with metal electrodes and are located above the upper lip and on the back. The duration of the procedure is 10-20 minutes. The procedure is carried out every day or every other day. The course of treatment includes 10-15 sessions.
