Botanical characteristics. Family umbrella. Annual herbaceous plant with erect round stalk, branchy at the top, up to 60 cm tall. Anise root is thin, spindle-shaped. Leaves upper - twice-pinnate, linear-lanceolate, lower - integral, on long petiole. Blossoms in June-July. White flowers are small, collected in a flat umbrella. Fetus is an ovoid seed. The whole plant has a strong specific smell - spicy and sweet.

Spread. Cultivated in many regions of our country, in the wild in Russia is not found.

Used parts of the plant. Fruit.
Of the fruits, an essential oil (mainly containing anethole), anisic aldehyde, anisic acid, as well as fatty oil and protein substances, have been isolated.

Application. As an antipyretic and expectorant for diseases of the upper respiratory tract and lungs: in ARI, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchial asthma and pulmonary tuberculosis.
Infusion of anise improves the activity of the stomach and intestines, enhances peristalsis and promotes the escape of gases.
Adding anise to the fees for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract increases the diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect of medicinal infusions.
Anis increases lactation in nursing mothers and has long been used by the people for this purpose.

Preparation. 1 tablespoon of anise is poured into a half-liter thermos, pour 2 cups of boiling water. Infusion drink during the day for 3 times in 1/2 cup for 20-30 minutes before meals in a warm form.
Drugs are sold in pharmacies, ammonia-anise, they are prescribed for 10-15 drops per reception 3-4 times a day, anisic oil takes 1-5 drops 3-4 times a day.
