Potentilla erecta Neck.
Botanical characteristics. Rosaceae family. Perennial herbaceous plant up to 50 cm high. It has a thick woody rhizome, from which numerous small roots depart. Rhizome light yellow on the cut and reddish-brown on the outside. Stems are erect, branching at the top, leaves alternate, trifoliate or five-toed, wedge-oblong. Small yellow single flowers have a four-cheeks halo, which is what distinguishes them from other types of silverweed. It blooms from May to September. Fruit - mnogosemyanka, ripens in June.
Spread. It grows in single specimens and large groups in the European part of Russia, in Ukraine and in Western Siberia. Occurs on forest edges, pastures, cuttings, in damp and dry dark places.

Rhizomes without roots.
Potentilla erect rhizomes are rich in tannins (up to 14%), they found tormentillin glycoside, tormentol ester, acids (quinic and ellagic), wax, gums, phlobaphenes, starch and gum.
In folk medicine, due to the astringent anti-inflammatory, bactericidal and hemostatic properties of calgan. It is recommended for inflammatory diseases of the stomach and intestines, accompanied by acute and chronic diarrhea, with various bleeding - lung, gastrointestinal, gynecological.
It is sometimes used for gout, rheumatism, and for acute and chronic liver diseases. It has some expectorant and choleretic action.
It is widely used externally in the form of compresses and lotions for bruises, weeping wounds and eczema, with hemorrhoids, poorly healing cracks. Potentilla is used in gynecology for douching, for belyah, as well as for rinsing for diseases of the nasopharynx and oral mucosa.
Lapatka rhizomes are part of pharmaceutical anti-teas.
The broth is prepared at the rate of 2 teaspoons of raw materials for 1 cup of water. Boil for 15–20 minutes, add to the original volume. Take 1-2 tablespoons 3-4 times a day for 20-40 minutes before meals.
For external use, the broth is prepared 2 or 3 times more concentrated than that used inside.
