Botanical characteristics. Annual herbaceous plant. Tap root. Stem rough, branched. Leaves alternate, lower strugovoid-separate, notched serrated, apical - whole, spear-shaped. The flowers are small, yellow, collected in an elongated brush. The fruit is conical, awl-shaped, tightly pressed against the stalk, multi-seeded pod. Trapezoidal seeds or rounded quadrangular, reddish-brown. Flowering from late May to October, fruiting until late autumn.
Spread. It grows in meadows, forest glades, like weeds in crops, along roads, near dwellings.
Used plant parts. Medicinal raw material is the aerial part of the plant, less often the roots. Raw materials are collected in dry weather and dried at a temperature not exceeding 50 ° C.
Chemical composition. All parts of the game contain cardenolides, tannins, flavonoids, apigenin glycosides, thioglycosides containing sulfur, carbohydrates, vitamins, microelements.
The seeds contain fatty oil, in its composition: linoleum, linolenic, erotic, zicosenic, palmitic, oleic, arachnic, eicosadienic, stearic acid and mustard oil.
Application. In folk medicine in many countries of the world, the aboveground part of the plant in the form of decoctions and infusions is used for colitis, dysentery, pulmonary tuberculosis, asthma, shortness of breath, cough, catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, various diseases of the bladder and urinary tract, scurvy, as a diuretic and anthelmintic agent; outwardly - for the treatment of wounds, ulcers, abrasions, scabies.
In the foreign literature, there is evidence that seeds in the form of decoction and ointment are used to treat various tumors, in cancer, including breast cancer and the urinary system. Young leaves are eaten. Some authors believe that the fun is a prophylactic anti-cancer disease. In this regard, the interest of the public is increasing.

- To get the infusion, take 20 g of the above-ground part of the plant, grind it, insist on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool it for 45 minutes, without removing it from the bath, filter it. Take 1/3 cup 2-3 times a day after meals.
- For broth, 10 g of seeds is poured 180 ml of boiling water, infused in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cooled for 10 minutes, filtered. Take 2 tbsp. spoon 2-3 times a day after meals.
