FLLEBIT - inflammation of the vein wall. The primary lesion of the outer shell is called periflebit, internal - endophlebitis, an inflammatory process that seizes all veins of the vein - pan-phlebitis. Periphlebitis usually develops as a result of the transition of the inflammatory process to the vein wall from the surrounding tissues. Endoflebitis occurs when a vein is injured and its internal membrane is damaged, most often with a prolonged stay in the vein of a needle or catheter with infusion therapy, as well as intravenous administration of hypertonic solutions.

The main clinical symptoms - pain and hyperemia of the skin along the veins - are observed only in the initial stage of the disease and with the defeat of the subcutaneous veins. When palpation along the veins of the affected vein, a dense painful stain or an infiltrate reveals the involvement of significant areas of subcutaneous tissue in the inflammatory process. Phlebitis often leads to the development of thrombophlebitis, which is associated with complications - septic emboli, abscesses, etc.

Treatment is mostly conservative. Locally apply compresses with ointments containing heparin , troxevasin , as well as thermal physiotherapy procedures. Conduct anti-inflammatory therapy (prescribe aspirin, butadion or reopyrin), use drugs that improve the rheological properties of blood and trophic venous walls (gliwenol, eskuzan, trental, quarantil, etc.). The forecast is usually favorable. Prevention consists in strict adherence to the rules of intravenous injections and infusions, timely treatment of purulent-inflammatory processes.
