When David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet: "Behold, I live in a cedar house, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord under the tent."
And Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in your heart, for God is with thee.
But that same night the word of God came to Nathan:
Go and tell my servant David, Thus says the Lord: "You will not build me a house for dwelling,
For I did not dwell in the house from the day I brought the children of Israel up to this day, but I went from the tabernacle to the tent and from the dwelling.
th Wherever I went with all Israel, did I say a word to any of the judges of Israel, to whom I commanded to feed my people: why do not you build me a house of cedar wood?
th And now so say to my servant David: Thus says the Lord of hosts: I took you from the flock of sheep, that you may be the leader of my people Israel;
And was with you wherever you went, and destroyed all your enemies before your face, and made your name, as the name of great on the earth;
And I have built a place for my people Israel, and have rooted it, and he will live peacefully in his place, and will no more be troubled, and the wicked will no longer oppress him, as before,
In the days when I set judges over my people Israel, and I humbled all your enemies, and I tell you that the Lord will make you a home.
eleven When your days are fulfilled, and you go to your fathers, then I will raise up your seed after you, which will be of your sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne for ever.
I will be his father, and he will be my son, and I will not take my mercy from him, as I took from him that was before you.
I will put him in my house and in my kingdom for ever, and his throne will be fixed forever.
All these words and the whole vision accurately told Nathan to David.

Then King David came and stood before the Lord, and said: Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that You have so exalted me?
th But even this was not enough in Thy sight, O God; You proclaim the house of Your servant away, and you look at me as a great man, O Lord God!
What else can David add before you for the exaltation of your servant? You know your servant!
Lord! For Thy servant, after Thy heart, Thou doest all this great, to manifest all greatness.
Lord! There is no such thing to You, and there is no God except You, for everything that we heard with our ears.
And who is like your people Israel, the only people on earth to whom God came to redeem Himself to the people, to make Himself a great and terrible thing - driving nations away from the face of Your people, which You delivered from Egypt.
You have made your people Israel by Your own people forever, and You, Lord, have become His God.
So now, O Lord, the word that You said about Your servant and about his house, establish for ever, and do as You said.
And let thy name be magnified forever, that they may say, The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel, and the house of thy servant David be established before thee.
For Thou, O my God, hast revealed to Thy servant that Thou wilt make him a house, therefore Thy servant dared to pray before Thee.
th And now, Lord, You are God, and You spoke of Your servant such good.
th Begin to bless the house of your servant, that he may be ever before you. For if you bless, Lord, then he will be blessed forever.
