In the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, [and reigned] seventeen years,
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, and did not fall behind them.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all the days.
And Jehoahaz prayed to the LORD's face, and the LORD heard him, because he saw the oppressions of Israel, as the king of Syria crammed them.
And the LORD gave Israel a deliverer, and they went out from under the hand of the Syrians, and the children of Israel lived in their tents, as yesterday and the day before.
th However, they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin; Walked in them, and the oak grove stood in Samaria.
th Jehoahaz had only fifty riders left, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers, because the king of Syria destroyed them and turned them to dust for trampling.
The rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his courageous exploits, are written in the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And Joash his son reigned in his stead.

In the thirty-seventh year of Joash, king of Judah, Joash the son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria, [and reigned] sixteen years,
eleven And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; He did not fall behind all the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, but walked in them.
The rest of the acts of Jehoash, and all that he did, and his courageous exploits, as he fought against Amaziah, king of Judah, is written in the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
And Joash slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his throne. And Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
Elisha fell ill with a disease, from which [then] he died. And Joash the king of Israel came to him, and wept over him, and said: My father! My father! The chariot of Israel and his cavalry!
And Elisha said to him, Take the bow and the arrows. And he took a bow and arrows.
And he said to the king of Israel, Put your hand on the bow. And he laid his hand. And Elisha put his hands in the hand of the king,
th And said: open the window to the east. And he opened it. And Elisha said: Shootings. And he fired. And he said: This arrow is deliverance from the Lord and the arrow of deliverance against Syria, and you will strike the Syrian in Aphek completely.
And he said [Elisha]: Take arrows. And he took it. And he said to the king of Israel, "Strike on the earth." And he struck three times, and stopped.
And the man of God was angry with him, and said, "It would have been necessary to beat five or six times, then you would have beaten the Syrians perfectly, and now you will only hit the Syrian three times."

And Elisha died, and was buried. And the hordes of the Moabites came into the earth the following year.
And it came to pass that when they buried one man, when they saw this group, they threw that man into the coffin of Elisha; And when he fell, he touched the bones of Elisha, and he revived, and rose to his feet.
Hazael, the king of Syria, oppressed the Israelites all the days of Jehoahaz.
But the Lord pityed them, and pardoned them, and turned to them for his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and did not want to destroy them, and did not reject them from his face until now.
And Hazael, king of Syria, died, and Ben-hadad his son reigned in his stead.
And Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, took from the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, the city which he took from the hand of his father Jehoahaz. Three times Joash broke it up and returned the cities of Israel.
