4 Kings 3

1 Joram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, and reigned twelve years,
2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, though not as his father and his mother; he took off the statue of Baal, which his father had made;
3 However, the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nabat, who introduced Israel into the sin, he kept, did not lag behind them.
4 Mesa the king of Moab was rich in cattle, and sent to the king of Israel one hundred thousand sheep and a hundred thousand unshowled sheep.
5 But when Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

6th And the king Joram spoke at that time from Samaria, and made a review to all Israel;
7th And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me; will you go with me to war against Moab? He said: I will go; Like you, and I, as your people, and my people; Like your horses, and my horses.
8 And he said: Which way shall we go? He said: By the road of the wilderness of Edom.
9 And the king of Israel went up, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom, and they went round about seven days: and there was no water for the army, and for the cattle that went after them.
10 And the king of Israel said: Ah! The Lord called the three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
eleven And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may inquire of the Lord through him? And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said: Here is Elisha, the son of Safoth, who served the water in Elijah's hands.
12 And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the Lord is with him. And the king of Israel went to him, and Jehoshaphat, and the king of Edom.
13 And Elisha said to the king of Israel, "What have I to do with you?" Go to the prophets of your father and to the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said to him, No, for the Lord called these three kings here, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
14 And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand! If I did not honor Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not have looked at you and I would not have seen you;
15 Now call me a guslist. And when the guslist played the harp, then the hand of the Lord touched Elisha,
16 And he said: Thus says the Lord: Do in this valley moats for moats,
17th For thus says the Lord: "You shall not see the wind, neither shall you see the rain, but this valley shall be filled with water, which you and your small and large cattle will drink;
18 But this is not enough in the sight of the Lord; He will also deliver you into your hands,
19 And you will smite all the cities fortified and all the major cities, and cut down all the best trees, and all the springs water up, and all the best parts of the field are spoiled with stones.

20 In the morning, when a grain offering is offered, water suddenly poured out on the way from Edom, and the earth was filled with water.
21 When the Moabites heard that the kings were coming to war with them, then all were gathered, from the wearer of the belt and the older, and they stood on the border.
22 In the morning they got up early, and when the sun shone over the water, the Moabites appeared from a distance this water as red as blood.
23 And they said: This is blood; The kings fought among themselves, and destroyed one another; Now for the prey, Moab!
24 And they came to the camp of Israel. And the Israelites stood up and beat the Moabites, and they ran from them, and they continued to go on them and beat the Moabites.
25 And the cities were destroyed, and every man in the field was thrown into the field by a stone and thrown him; And all the streams of water were dammed and all the trees were cut down, so that only the stones remained in Kir-Khareshet. And the slingers surrounded him and destroyed him.
26th And the king of Moab saw that the battle was over him, and took with him seven hundred men who had the sword to make way for the king of Edom; But could not.
27th And he took the son of his first-born, who should reign in his stead, and offered him up for a burnt offering on the wall. This caused great indignation in the Israelites, and they withdrew from it and returned to their land.
