And afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: Let my people go, that he made a feast unto me in the wilderness.
And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice, [and] to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and not let Israel go.

They said: God of the Hebrews has called us; let us go into the desert three days' journey to sacrifice to the LORD our God, lest He fall upon us with pestilence or sword.
And he said unto them the king of Egypt: Why do you, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? Go to your work.
And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and you make them rest from their burdens.
And the same day Pharaoh commanded the overseers gave over the people and the guards, saying:
Do not give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves
and the bricks, which they portion to the same number as they did yesterday and the day before, and did not take away; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God;
give them more work to make it work and not regard vain words.

And the taskmasters of the people went out, and officers, and said to the people: Thus saith Pharaoh: I do not give you straw
eleven Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it on your work does not decreases.
And the people were scattered throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
Taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was [you] straw.
And the officers of the children of Israel, which they did set over them taskmasters of Pharaoh, were beaten, why you yesterday and today are not the lessons that are made of bricks, as heretofore?

Then came the officers of the children of Israel, and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Why do you do this with your servants?
There is no straw given unto thy servants, and bricks, they tell us, do. And, behold, thy servants are beaten; sin of your people.
But he said: You are idle, idle, therefore ye say, Let us go and sacrifice to the LORD.
Go now, and work; Straw will not let you, and the tale of bricks.
And saw the officers of the children of Israel his trouble in the words, not subtract from your bricks a [put] on every day.
And when they came out from Pharaoh, they met Moses and Aaron, who were waiting for them,
and said to them, and judge you Lord for what you have made us odious in the eyes of Pharaoh and his servants and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.
And Moses returned to the Lord and said: My Lord! why have you imposing on such a disaster this people sent me?
For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; deliver the same --Ty not delivered thy people.
