Ezra 1

Index Next chapter
1 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in fulfillment of the word of the Lord from the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, the king of Persia, and he commanded to announce throughout all his kingdom, verbally and in writing:
2 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: The Lord God of Heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He has commanded me to build Him a house in Jerusalem that is in Judea.
3 Who is among you, of all his people, -will his God be with him, -and let him go to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem.
4 And all those who remain in all places, wherever he lives, let the citizens of that place help him with silver and gold and [other] property, and cattle, with free giving for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

5 And the heads of the families of the children of Judah and Benjamin rose up, and the priests and the Levites, every one that God stirred up his spirit to go and build the house of the Lord that is in Jerusalem.
6th And all their neighbors helped them with silver vessels, gold, [other] property, and cattle, and expensive things, beyond any free giving [for the temple].
7th And the king Cyrus carried out the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar took from Jerusalem, and put in the house of his god,
8 And Cyrus, the king of Persia, carried them out, by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and he handed them over to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah.
9 And here is the number of them: golden thirty dishes, silver dishes a thousand, knives twenty-nine,
10 Bowls of gold thirty, bowls of silver double four hundred and ten, other vessels one thousand:
eleven All the vessels of gold and silver, five thousand and four hundred. All [it] took [with him] Sheshbazar, when sending settlers from Babylon to Jerusalem.
