And it was in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal, king of nations,
they went to war against Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
All these were joined together in the valley of Siddim, which [now] the Salt Sea.
Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
In the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-Karnaim, Zuzims in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
and the Horites in their mount Seir, to El-Paran, which is by the wilderness.
And they returned, and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites living in Hazazon-tamar.
And the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela, which is Zoar; and they joined battle with them in the valley of Siddim,
with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal, king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, --chetyre kings with five.
In the valley of Siddim was full of slime pits. And the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there, and the rest fled to the mountain.
eleven [Winners] took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and departed.
And they took Lot, Abram's brother, who dwelt in Sodom, and his possessions and departed.

And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, which were confederate with Abram.
And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued [the enemies] to Dan;
And he divided [attacked] against them by night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left of Damascus;
And he brought back all the goods, and Lot, his kinsman, and his goods, and the women also and the people.

When he returned from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the valley of Shaveh, which [now] the king's dale;
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine, --It was the priest of the Most High God -
and I blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, of heaven and earth;
and blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand. [Abram] gave him a tenth of everything.

And the king of Sodom said to Abram: Give me the persons, and take the goods to yourself.
But Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to the Lord God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,
that thread even to a shoe strap will not take all of yours, lest you should say: I have made Abram rich;
moreover, that the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me; Aner, Eshkol and Mamre, let them take their portion.
