And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father, and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother;
And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful and multiply thee, and thou mayest be a multitude of people;
and give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your seed with you, that you may inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave to Abraham!
And let Isaac Jacob, and he went to Padanaram to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean, brother to Rebekah, mother of Jacob and Esau.

Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him to Mesopotamia to take a wife from there, and commanded him, saying: Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and went to Mesopotamia.
And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;
and Esau went to Ishmael and took to wife Mahalath, daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, sister Navaiofovu, over [other] wives.

Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran
eleven and I came to the [one] place and [was] there all night, because the sun had set. And he took [one] of the stones of that place, and put it under his head and lay down in that place.
And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and, behold, angels of God ascending and descending on it.
And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: I am the LORD, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to thee, and to thy seed;
and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth; and spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth;
and here I am with thee, and keep thee in all places whither thou goest; and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I told you.

And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I did not know!
And he was afraid and said, How dreadful is this place! This is none other but the house of God, this is the gate of heaven.
And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head and set it a pillar, and poured oil on its top.
And he called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of that city was Luz.
Then Jacob a vow, saying, If God will be with me and will keep me in this way, that I go and will give me bread to eat and clothing to put on,
and I am in the world I will return to my father's house, and the LORD will be my God, -
And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, will be God's house; and of all that Thou [God] shalt give me I will give you a tenth.
