Hosea 11

Previous chapter Index Next chapter
1 At dawn the king of Israel will perish! When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.
2 They called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
3 I taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
4 Cords of a man I drew them with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
5 He shall not return to Egypt, but the Assyrian - it will be his king, because they refused to return [to me].
6 And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume its gates, and it shall devour them for their own counsels.
7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the Horn, he stands not unanimous.

8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? I do do unto thee as with Adam, if you'll do that Zeboiim? Turned within me, My heart, kindled together My!
9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the midst of thee the Holy One; I do not enter into the city.
10 Following the Lord they will go; like a lion, he utters his voice, utter his voice, and the children shall come trembling to the west,
eleven come trembling out of Egypt, as birds, and from the land of Assyria, like doves, and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; Judah still God, and is faithful with the saints.
