Isaiah 55

Previous chapter Index Next chapter
one Thirsty! go all to the waters; even you who do not have silver go, buy and eat; Go buy wine and milk without silver and without payment.
2 Why do you weigh silver for not bread, and your labor for not saturating? Listen to Me carefully and enjoy the good, and let your soul enjoy the fat.
3 Bend your ear and come to Me: listen, and your soul will live, - and I will give you an everlasting covenant, unchanging mercies [promised] to David.
four Behold, I have given him as a witness for the nations, a leader and mentor to the nations.
5 Now, you will call on a people that you did not know, and nations that did not know you, will rush to you for the sake of the Lord your God and for the sake of the Holy Israel, for He glorified you.

6 Seek the Lord when you can find Him; call upon him when he is near.
7 May the wicked leave his way and the wicked - his thoughts, and let him turn to the Lord, and He have mercy on him and God, for He is merciful.
8 My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways are My ways, says the Lord.
9 But as heaven is above the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.
10 Like rain and snow descends from heaven and does not return there, but it gives water to the earth and makes it able to give birth and grow, so that it gives seed to the one who sows, and bread to the one who eats -
eleven so is My word, which proceeds out of My mouth — it does not return to Me in vain, but fulfills what I like, and does what I sent it to.
12 So you will come out with joy and be seen off in peace; mountains and hills will sing a song before you, and all the trees in the field applaud you.
13 Instead of blackthorn, cypress will grow; instead of nettle myrtle will increase; and it will be in the glory of the Lord, in an eternal sign, indestructible.
