Jeremiah 3

They say: `If a man put away his wife, and she go from him and become another man's, will return to her again? Would not that land is defiled? ' And you played the harlot with many lovers, --and yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
Lift up thine eyes unto the heights and see, where hast not been lien with thee? At the ways hast thou sat for them, as an Arabian in the wilderness, and have polluted the land with your fornication and your wickedness.
For the showers have been withheld, and there was no latter rain; but you had a harlot's forehead, thou hurled shame.
Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, `My father! You are the guide of my youth!
Will he in anger? and will he keep it to the end? ' That's what you say and do evil and do well in it.

The Lord said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen what she did backsliding Israel? She went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there played the harlot.
And after she did it, I said, `Return to Me '; but she did not return; and I saw [it] her treacherous sister Judah.
And I saw, when for all the adulterous backsliding Israel daughter, I put her away and given her a bill of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
And clear whoredom, that she defiled the land and committed adultery with stone and wood.
But for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.
eleven And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding [daughter] of Israel herself more than treacherous Judah.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, backsliding, [daughter] of Israel, saith the LORD. I do not I will pour out my wrath on you; for I am merciful, saith the LORD, I will forever resent --Not.
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God, and ways to the strangers under every green tree, and my voice you will not hear, saith the LORD.
Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD, for I am with you, and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and bring you to Zion.
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding
And it will be, when you are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more: 'the ark of the covenant of the Lord'; he does not come to mind, and do not remember it, and will not come to him, and it will be gone.
At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all nations, to the name of the Lord will come to Jerusalem and will not be any more after the stubbornness of his evil heart.
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together from the land of the north into the land which I have given for an inheritance to your fathers.
But I said: How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? And he said: Thou shalt call me father and shalt not turn away from me.

Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.
A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and forgotten the Lord their God.
Return, backsliding children, I will heal your backslidings. --Vot, We come unto thee; for thou art - the Lord our God.
Truly in vain hoped for from the hills and from the multitude of mountains; truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel!
From our youth the shameful thing has devoured the labor of our fathers, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against the Lord our God, --we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.
