Jeremiah 5

Walk the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if you can not find the person, whether executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; I would have spared [Jerusalem].
And though they say: 'As the LORD liveth', surely they swear falsely!.
Oh my God! Your eyes are not there to [face] truth? Thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; Thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction; made their faces harder than a rock, they refuse to return.
And I said [to himself]: it may be poor; they are foolish, for they know not the way of the Lord, the law of their God;
I will go to the great men and speak to them, for they know the way of God, the law of their God. But they are all broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
During the strike of a lion from the forest wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces; because their transgressions are many, their backslidings are increased.
How shall I pardon thee for this? Your sons have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods. I fed them, they committed adultery and thronged to the houses of harlots.
They were as fed horses: each of them laughs at his neighbor's wife.
Shall I not visit for these things? Says the Lord; not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Go ye up on her walls, and destroy; but not until the end; Destroy their teeth because they are not the LORD;
eleven For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD:
They have belied the LORD, and said, `It is not he, and evil come upon us, and we will not see sword nor famine.
And the prophets shall become wind, and the words [of the Lord] is not in them; over them let it be 'themselves.
Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts: Because you say this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people - wood, and it [the fire] shall devour them.
Behold, I will bring upon you, O house of Israel, a nation from afar, says the Lord, the people of a mighty nation, a nation whose language you do not know, and will not understand what he says.
Quiver - as an open sepulcher; they are all mighty men.
And they shall eat up thy harvest and thy bread, they shall eat up your sons and your daughters will eat your sheep and your cattle, eat thy vines and thy fig trees: destroy with the sword thy fortified cities, in which you trusted.
But in those days, saith the Lord, do not make a full end.
And if you say: 'Why has the Lord our God, makes us all', then answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
Hear now this, O foolish people and unwise, who have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
Are you not afraid of me, says the Lord, Do not tremble before me? I placed the sand for the bound of the sea, the eternal limit, which can not pass; and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can not cross it.
But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone;
Neither say they in their heart, `Let us now fear the Lord our God, who gives us the early and latter rain in its season, keeps for us the appointed weeks of harvest. '

Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have removed good things from you.
For among my people are found wicked men: guard as birders, crouch, they set a trap, they catch men.
As a cage is full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; through this they have risen and prospered,
become obese, fat, they crossed all measure even in evil, do not assort lawsuits, cases of orphans; prosper and the just cause of the poor do not give the court.
Shall I not visit for these things? Says the Lord; not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
thirty A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love it. What will you do after this?
