Jeremiah 7

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:
Stand in the gates of the house of the Lord, and proclaim there this word, and say: Hear the word of the Lord, all the Jews that enter by these gates to worship the Lord.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your doings, and I will leave you to dwell in this place.
Do not rely on deceitful words: "here is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord."
But if you completely correct your ways and your deeds, if you will truly do justice between a man and his rival,
th You will not oppress a stranger, an orphan and a widow, and shed innocent blood in this place, and you will not go after other gods for your own misfortune,
th Then I will leave you to dwell in this place, in this land which I gave to your fathers in the generations of generations.
Now, you are hoping for deceptive words that will not do you any good.
How! You steal, kill and commit adultery, and swear in lies, and burn incense to Baal, and go after other gods whom you do not know,
And then you come and stand before me in this house, on which my name is called, and say: We are saved, to continue to do all these abominations.
eleven Has not this house become a den of robbers in your eyes, over which is called My name? Behold, I have seen it, saith the Lord.
Go to My place in Shiloh, where I first appointed to dwell in My name, and see what I did with him for the wickedness of My people Israel.
And now, since you are doing all these things, says the Lord, and I have told you since the early morning, and you did not listen, and called you, and you did not answer,
I will do the same with the house over which my name is called, which you hope for, and with the place that I gave you and your fathers, as I did with Shiloh.
And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast off all your brethren, all the seed of Ephraim.

But do not ask for this people and do not offer prayers and petitions for them, and do not intercede with Me, for I will not hear you.
th Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Children collect firewood, and fathers make fire, and women knead the dough to make pies for the goddess of heaven and make libations to other gods to upset Me.
But do they afflict me? Says the Lord; Is it not ourselves to shame?
Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold, my wrath and my fury is poured out upon this place, upon men and beasts, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the earth; and it shall be kindled, and shall not be quenched.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Offer your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh;
For I did not speak or command your fathers in the day when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, about the burnt offering and the sacrifice;
But this commandment gave to them: "Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you will be my people, and walk in all the ways that I command you, that it will be well for you."
But they did not listen, nor inclined their ear, and lived by the inspiration and perseverance of their wicked heart, and they turned their backs to Me, not their faces.
From the day that your fathers left the land of Egypt, to this day I have sent to you all my servants, the prophets, sent every day from early morning;
th But they did not obey me, nor incline their ear, but hardened their neck, they acted worse than their fathers.
th And when you tell them all these words, they will not listen to you; And when you call them, they will not answer you.
Then say to them: this is the people who do not listen to the voice of the Lord their God and do not accept instruction! They have no truth, they are taken from their mouth.

Cut off thy hair, and cast it, and weep in the mountains: for Jehovah hath rejected, and forsaken the generation that caused his wrath.
thirty For the sons of Judah do evil in my sight, says the Lord; They set up their abominations in a house over which my name is called to defile it;
And they built the high places of Tophet in the valley of the sons of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, and which I did not enter into my heart.
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, when they shall no more call Töpeth and the valley of the sons of Hinnom, but the valley of the slaughter, and they shall bury in Tophet for lack of space.
And the carcasses of this people will feed on the birds of the sky and on the beasts of the earth, and no one will drive them away.
And I will cut off in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem the voice of triumph and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; Because this land will be a desolation.
