And the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:
Arise, go to Nineveh, great city, and preach in it that I have commanded you.
And Jonah got up and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord; Nineveh was a great city with God, for three days walking.
And Jonah began to walk around the city, how many can be walked in one day, and preached, saying: forty more days and Nineveh would be destroyed!

And the Ninevites believed God, and fasted, and put on sackcloth, from the great of them to the small.
th This word reached the king of Nineveh, and he rose from his throne, and took off his royal vestments, and dressed in sackcloth, and sat on the ashes,
th And commanded that he should proclaim and say in Nineveh in the name of the king and his nobles: "lest people, or cattle, oxen, or sheep eat anything, go to the pasture and drink water,
And that saints and cattle are covered with sackcloth, and they cry to God, and that everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence of his hands.
Who knows, maybe God will also have mercy and turn away His burning anger from us, and we will not perish. "
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way, and God repented of the calamity, of which he said that he would bring upon them, and did not bring.
