From there he went out and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
When it was Saturday, he began to teach in the synagogue; and many hearing him were astonished, saying, Whence hath this? and what wisdom given to him, and such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, Joses, Judas and Simon? Not here with us, his sisters? And they were offended in him.
Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country and kin, and in his own house.
And he could not do any miracles there, only a few sick people by laying his hands, and healed [them].
And he marveled because of their unbelief; then he went to the surrounding villages and taught.

And he called the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
And he commanded them that they should take nothing for the journey except a staff only: no scrip, no bread, no copper in the belt,
But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
And he said to them: Wherever you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place.
eleven And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust from your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
They went out and preached repentance;
they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.

And king Herod heard [of Jesus], --ibo His name was spread --govoril is John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do them.
Others said, It is Elijah. And others said, It is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
But when Herod heard, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded; he is risen from the dead.
For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother, because he had married her.
For John said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
Herodias had a quarrel against him, and desired to kill him; but I could not.
For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe; he did many things, listening to him, and enjoyed listening to him.
Convenient day was come, that Herod on the occasion of the [day] of his birth, made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee -
the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him; the king said to the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give you;
And he swore to her, Whatever you ask me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
She went out and said to her mother: What shall I ask? And she said, John the Baptist's head.
And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I want you to give me at once on a platter the head of John the Baptist.
The king was grieved, but because of his oaths and sat with him, he would not reject her.
And immediately sent an executioner, the king commanded to bring his head.
He went and beheaded him in the prison, and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the damsel, and the damsel gave it to her mother.
When his disciples heard, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

thirty And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught.
He said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a little bit, it was --ibo many coming and going, so that there was no time to them.
And they departed into a desert place by ship.
The people saw [as] they were departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and warned them, and came together unto him.
Jesus came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion on them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
And as the time passed, his disciples came to him, saying: the place [is] desolate, and have a lot of time -
Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
He said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said to him, Shall we go and buy bread for two hundred pence, and give them to eat?
And he asked them: How many loaves have you? Go and see. They learn, they say, Five, and two fishes.
He commanded them to make all sit down on the green grass.
And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties.
He took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes he divided among all.
And they did all eat, and were filled.
And they took up the bread and [residue] of fish twelve baskets full.
They that did eat the loaves were about five thousand men.

And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead to the other side to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.
And releasing them, he went up the mountain to pray.
In the evening, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and he alone on the land.
He saw them distressed in rowing, for the wind was against them; about the fourth watch of the night came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed by them.
But when they saw him walking on the sea, I thought it was a ghost, and cried out.
For all we saw him and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them and said to them, Be of good cheer; It is I, be not afraid.
And he went up to them into the boat, and the wind ceased. And they were sore amazed in themselves, and wondered,
because they did not repent [miracle] of the loaves, because their heart was hardened.
And over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and drew [a] [shore].
When they got out of the boat, straightway [the people] knew him,
We ran about the whole neighborhood and began to bring the sick on beds where they heard he was.
And wherever he entered, into villages, or whether, in the countryside to the cities, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch even to the hem of his garment; and as many as touched him were made whole.
