And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
and he was transfigured before them: and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light.
And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.
And Peter said to Jesus: Lord, good for us to be here; if you want, let us make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; Listen to him.
And hearing, the disciples fell on their faces and were very frightened.
But Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
Lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus.
And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
And his disciples asked him: why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?
eleven Jesus answered them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things;
But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased; so shall the Son of man suffer of them.
Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

When they came to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him,
He said: My Lord! have mercy on my son; he new moon [raves], and suffers grievously, because often falls into the fire and often into the water,
I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
And Jesus answering, said: O faithless and perverse generation! How long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me.
And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him; and the child was cured from that hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said: Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief; For verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, `Move from here to there 'and it will move; and nothing shall be impossible unto you;
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men,
and they shall kill him, and rise again on the third day. And they were exceeding sorry.

When they came to Capernaum, the collectors came to Peter, received tribute money and said, Does not your teacher pay tribute gives?
He says yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What do you think, Simon? kings of the earth who take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus said to him, Then are the children free;
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go to the sea, cast a hook, and the first fish that comes up, and opening its mouth, you will find a shekel; Take it and give it to them for me and thee.
