When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, the wise men from the east came to Jerusalem and said:
Where is the King of the Jews born? For we saw his star in the east, and came to worship him.
Hearing this, Herod the king became alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him.
And he gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people, and asked them, "Where is Christ to be born?"
And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judah, for thus it is written through the prophet:
th And you, Bethlehem, the land of Judah, are no less than the provinces of Judah, for out of you will come the Leader, who will save my people Israel.
th Then Herod, secretly summoning the wise men, discovered from them the time of the appearance of the star
And sending them to Bethlehem, said: Go and search diligently for the child, and when you find it, let me know, so that I may also go to worship him.

They, after hearing the king, went. And behold, the star that they saw in the east went before them, [as] finally came and stopped above the place where the Child was.
Seeing the same star, they rejoiced with great joy,
eleven And when they entered into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and, falling down, worshiped him; And having opened their treasures, they offered him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
And having received a revelation in a dream not to return to Herod, they retreated to their own country in a different way.

And when they departed, the angel of the Lord is in a dream to Joseph, and says: Arise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod wants to seek the Infant to destroy Him.
He got up, took the baby and his mother at night and went to Egypt,
And there was until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled that was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, "Of Egypt have I called My Son."

Then Herod, seeing himself ridiculed by the magi, was very angry, and sent to beat all the babies in Bethlehem and in all its limits, from two years and below, according to the time that he had learned from the wise men.
th Then it was fulfilled through the prophet Jeremiah, who says:
A voice is heard in Rama, weeping and sobbing, and a great cry; Rachel cries for her children and does not want to be comforted, for they are not.

After Herod's death, - the Angel of the Lord in a dream is to Joseph in Egypt
And says: Arise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for the children who have sought the souls of the child died.
He arose, took the child and his mother and came to the land of Israel.
When he heard that Archelaus reigned in Judah instead of Herod his father, he was afraid to go there; But, having received a revelation in a dream, went to the limits of the Galilean
And when he came, he dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, that he was called a Nazarene.
