And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying:
Avenge the Midianites the children of Israel, and then shalt go to thy people.
And Moses said unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves for war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian
thousand of every tribe, of all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
And out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, and in his hand the sacred vessels and the trumpets for the alarm.

And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses, and slew all the males;
and together with their dead killed the kings of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword;
and the women of Midian and the children of Israel took captive, and all their cattle, and all their cattle and all their possessions they took the spoil
and all their cities in their possessions and all their villages burned with fire;
eleven and they took all the spoil and all the prey, of man and beast;
and brought the captives and the prey and the spoil to Moses and Eleazar the priest and to the congregation of the children of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.

And Moses came and Eleazar the priest and all the princes of the camp to meet them.
And Moses was wroth with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, who came from the war,
and Moses said to them [for which] you have left all the women alive?
here they are, on the counsel of Balaam, to the children of Israel a pretext to retreat from the Lord in the Peor pleasing, [for that], and the defeat was in the Lord's society;
Now therefore kill every male, and every woman that hath known man by lying with kill;
But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves;
And do ye abide without the camp seven days; whoever has killed any person and touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives;
and all the clothing, leather and all things and all made from goat's and all the wooden vessels clean [wool].
And Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who went to war: This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses:
gold, silver, copper, iron, tin and lead,
and everything that passes through fire, run through the fire, so it cleared, and in addition, and the water of sprinkling shall be clean; Still, that does not pass through the fire, slide through the water;
and wash your clothes on the seventh day, and clean, and afterward come into the camp.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying:
Take the sum of prey that was taken, both of man and beast, thou and Eleazar the priest and the chief fathers of the congregation;
and divide the booty equally between the warring, who went out to war, and between all the congregation;
and from the soldiers who went to war, a tribute to the Lord, one soul of five hundred, of the people and of the oxen and of the donkeys and of the sheep;
Take it of their half, and give it to Eleazar the priest as an offering to the Lord;
thirty and half of the children of Israel, take one portion of fifty, of the people, of the oxen, of the donkeys and of the flocks, and give them to the Levites, in the tabernacle of the Lord.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And the booty, being the rest of the captured, that the men of war: the flock six hundred seventy-five thousand,
oxen, seventy-two thousand,
sixty-one thousand donkeys,
people, women who had not known man by lying with all thirty-two thousand souls.
Half of the share of those who went to war, according to the number was, sheep three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred,
and a tribute to the Lord from the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen
oxen, thirty-six thousand, and the tribute of them to the Lord seventy-two;
And thirty thousand asses and five hundred, and the tribute of them to the Lord sixty-one;
sixteen thousand, and the tribute of them to the Lord, thirty-two souls.
And Moses gave the tribute, offering to the LORD, to Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And half of the children of Israel, which Moses divided from the men that warred,
the half that [the share] the congregation was the flock three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred,
the herd six and thirty thousand,
thirty thousand five hundred donkeys,
And sixteen thousand persons.
Half of the children of Israel, Moses took one portion of fifty, of man and of beast, and gave them to the Levites, the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.

And they came to Moses, the chiefs of the thousands of the army, the captains over thousands and hundreds,
and they said unto Moses, Thy servants have counted the warriors who are under our charge, and had lost none of them;
and [here], we have brought an offering to the Lord, who took it from the jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings and pendants, to make atonement for our souls before the LORD.
And he took them Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold in all of these products;
And all the gold that is brought as an offering to the Lord, sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from the captains of thousands and of hundreds.
Soldiers looted every man for himself.
And he took Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, in memory of the children of Israel before the LORD.
