(88-1) ^^ Teachings of Epham Ezrahit. ^ 88-2. My mercy, O Lord, I will sing forever, to proclaim thy truth in my father's and my father's mouth. |

(88-3) For I say: for eternity is established mercy, in the heavens, Thou hast established Thy truth [when He said]: |

(88-4) "I made a covenant with my elect, swore to David my servant: |

|
I will establish thy seed for ever: I will set up thy throne to all generations and generations. "

|
(88-6) And the heavens shall glorify thy wonderful works, O LORD, and thy truth in the congregation of the saints. |

(88-7) For who in the heavens will be compared with the Lord? Who among the sons of God will be like the Lord? |

|
(88-8) God is terrifying in the great assembly of the saints, He is terrible to all those around Him. |

|
O Lord, God of strength! Who is strong, like You, Lord? And your truth is in your neighborhood. |

(88-10) You rule over the wrath of the sea: when his waves rise, You tame them. |

|
(88-11) You deposed Rahab as a slain; With a strong arm of thine arm, thou hast scattered thine enemies. |

Your heavens and your earth; The universe and what fills it, You have founded. |

|
Thou hast made the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name. |

(88-14) Your arm is strong, your hand is strong, your right hand is high! |

|
(88-15) Justice and righteousness are the foundation of Thy throne; Mercy and truth come before your face.

(88-16) Happy is the people that know the trumpet call! They walk in the light of Your face, Lord, |

(88-17) They rejoice over your name all the day long, and are lifted up by your righteousness, |

|
(88-18) For thou art the adornment of their strength, and thy horn is lifted up with thy favor. |

|
(88-19) Our shield is from the LORD, and from the Holy One of Israel is our king.

|
(88-20) You once spoke in a vision to your holy One, and said: "I helped the courageous, lifted up the chosen from the people. |

|
(88-21) I found David my servant, anointed him with my holy oil. |
21
|
My hand shall be with him, and my arm shall strengthen him. |
22
|
(88-23) The enemy shall not prevail against him, and the son of iniquity shall not oppress him. |

|
(88-24) I will crush his enemies before him, and I will smite those who hate him. |
24
|
(88-25) My truth and my mercy are with him, and his horn will be exalted in my name. |

|
(88-26) And I will put his hand upon the sea, and on his rivers his right hand. |

(88-27) He will call me: You are my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. |

|
(88-28) And I will make him the first-born, above the kings of the earth, |
28
|
I will keep his mercy to him for ever, and my covenant will be faithful to him. |

|
(88-30) And I will continue his seed forever, and his throne as the days of heaven. |

(88-31) If his sons will forsake my law, and walk not according to my commandments; |

|
(88-32) If they break my statutes, and do not keep my precepts: |

|
(88-33) I will visit their wickedness with a rod, and with blows their iniquity; |
33
|
But I will not take my mercy from him, neither will I change my truth. |
34
|
(88-35) I will not break my covenant, neither will I change that which came out of my mouth. |

|
(88-36) Once I swore by my sanctity, "Will I lie to David?" |

|
(88-37) His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me, |
37
|
(88-38) will forever be as strong as the moon, and a faithful witness in heaven. "

|
(88-39) But now thou hast cast off and despised, and is angry with thine anointed; |

|
(88-40) He hath neglected the covenant with thy servant, he hath cast his crown upon the earth; |

|
(88-41) destroyed all its fences, turned the ruins of his fortress. |

|
(88-42) All who pass by are plundering it; He became the laughingstock of his neighbors. |

(88-43) Thou hast exalted the right hand of his adversaries, and made all his enemies happy. |

(88-44) Thou hast turned back the edge of his sword, and strengthened him not to battle; |
44
|
(88-45) He took away his brilliance and threw his throne to the ground; |
45
|
(88-46) shortened the days of his youth and covered him with shame. |

|
(88-47) How long, O Lord, will you hide without ceasing, your fierce will burn like fire? |
47
|
(88-48) Remember what my age is: what fuss have you made for all the sons of men? |
48
|
(88-49) Who among the people lived - and did not see death, delivered his soul from the hand of the underworld? |

(88-50) Where are thy former mercies, O LORD? You swore to David in your truth. |

|
(88-51) Remember, O Lord, the mockery of thy servants, which I carry in my bosom from all the mighty nations; |

(88-52) As Thine enemies repudiate, O LORD, how they repay the footsteps of Thine anointed. |

|
