And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and that he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
And Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do this time tomorrow do not make your life that [made] with the life of one of them.
Seeing this, he got up and went to save his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
But he himself went into the wilderness a day's journey, and came and sat down under a juniper tree, and requested the death of him and said: It is enough, Lord; Take my soul, for I am no better than my fathers.
And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree. And behold, an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
And he looked, and behold, at his head baked cake and a jug of water. He ate and drank and lay down again.
And the angel of the Lord appeared in a second time and touched him and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is before you.
And he arose, and ate and drank, and the strength of that meat, walked forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God.

And he went into a cave, and lodged there. And so, it was to him the word of the LORD, and said to him [the Lord], What doest thou here, Elijah?
He said: I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; I was left alone, and they seek my life, to take it away.
eleven And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD, and, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake;
after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
Heard [these things], Elijah hid his face his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance to the cave. And there was a voice to him, and said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
He said: I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; I was left alone, and they seek my life, to take it away.
And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you come, anoint Hazael king over Syria;
and Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint king over Israel; Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in his stead;
who shall flee from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will put to death; and who will be saved from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
Yet I have left in Israel seven thousand [men]; all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

And he went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat as he shouted; with twelve yoke [of oxen] before him, and he with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
And I leave [Elisha] the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, let me kiss my father and my mother, and I will follow thee. He said to him, Go back again, for what have I done to you?
And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and oxen, boiled their flesh, and gave to the people, and they ate. And he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
