On the third day after David and his men came to Ziklag, the Amalekites had invaded the south and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag and burned it with fire, |

and the women [and all] that were therein, both small and great, is not killed, but carried them away, and went on their way. |

|
And when David and his men to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire, and their wives and their sons and their daughters, were taken captive. |
4
|
And David and the people that were with him, their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. |
5
|
They were taken captives, and David's two wives: Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, [former] wife of Nabal the Carmelite. |

|
David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him; because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters.

|
But David strengthened [hope of] the Lord his God, and David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelehovu: Bring me the ephod. And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. |

|
And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue this troop, and whether they'll catch up? And said to him, Pursue and catch up take away. |

|
And David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him; and came to the brook Bozrah and weary stayed there. |

|
And David pursued, he and four hundred men; Two hundred people stayed the same, because they were unable to move the flow Vosorsky. |

And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he ate, and gave him drink water; |

and gave him a piece of a bunch of figs, and two clusters of raisins, and he ate and was strengthened, because he had not eaten bread or drunk water for three days and three nights. |

And David said to him, Whose are you and where are you from? And he said, I - young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite, and my master left me, because three days ago I fell sick; |

|
We invaded a south part of Keret and to Judah and the Negev of Caleb, and Ziklag, burned with fire. |

|
And David said to him: Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company. |

|
and he took it; and, behold, [Amalekites] were spread across the country, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah. |

|
And David smote them from twilight until the evening of the next day, and none of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled. |

|
And David rescued all that the Amalekites had taken, and the two wives David rescued. |

|
And there was nothing in them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that [Amalekites] took them; David recovered all. |

|
And David took all the flocks and herds and drove before those other cattle, and said it - David's spoil.

|
And David came to the two hundred men, who were not able to go after him, and [that] he had left at the brook Bozrah, and they went out to meet David and to meet the people that were with him. And when David came near to the people, he greeted them. |

|
Then the wicked and worthless of those that went with David, and said: Because they went not with us, we will not give them of the spoil which we have taken away; let every man his wife and children and go. |

|
But David said, do not do so, my brethren, since the Lord has given us and has kept us and delivered into our hand the company that came against us. |
24
|
And who will hearken unto you in this matter? Part is that goeth to the battle, so shall his part be left with the baggage: they shall share. |
25
|
So it was from that time and after; and he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day. |

|
And David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil to the elders of Judah, to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil [taken] the enemies of the Lord ', - |
27
|
to those in Bethel, and in south Ramoth, and Jattir. |
28
|
and Aroer and Shifmofe and Estemoa, |
29
|
and Rahal, and in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and in the cities Kenites, |
thirty
|
and Hormah and Horashane and amax, |
31
|
and in Hebron, and in all the places where David went, he and his men. |
