Known to you, brethren, by the grace of God, the churches of Macedonia, |
2
that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy; and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. |
3
For they are a cheerful and on forces beyond your strength - I am a witness: |
4
they convincingly asked us to accept the gift and part of [their] in ministering to the saints; |
5
and not only that, we hoped, but they gave themselves first to the Lord, [then] to us by the will of God; |
6
So we urged Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.
7
As ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and all diligence, and in your love to us, --tak abound in this grace. |
8
I speak not by commandment, but the earnestness of others the sincerity of your love. |
9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, became poor for your sake, that you through his poverty. |
10
I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago. |
eleven
Take now the same thing, that thing hard wish, and was executed by prosperity. |
12
For if the readiness is there, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to what he has not. |
13
Do not [need] to another [was] relieved, and the severity of you, but that there may be equality. |
14
Now your abundance [replenishment] their fault; and their abundance [replenishment] you lack that there may be equality, |
15
as it is written who gathered much had nothing over; and some less, had drawbacks.
16
Thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same earnest care for you. |
17
For though I asked him, but he, being very diligent, went unto you. |
18
With him we have sent a brother, in all the churches praise is in the gospel, |
19
and, moreover, elected by the churches to travel with us with this grace, which we serve to the glory of the Lord himself, and [in] [compliance with] your diligence, |
20
Avoiding this, that we do not man should blame in this abundance which is administered by our service; |
21
because we are honest things, not only before the Lord, but also before men. |
22
We have sent with them our brother, whom zeal many times experienced in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence in you. |
23
As for Titus, he is - my partner and fellow worker among you; and as for our brothers, it is - the messengers of the churches, the glory of Christ. |
24
So to give them the face of the churches the proof of your love, and that we [true] glory in you. |
