In the third year of Hoshea, the son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah reigned.
He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; His mother's name was Avi, the daughter of Zechariah.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord in all things, as David his father did;
He abolished the heights, broke the statues, cut down the oak and destroyed the brazen serpent Moses made, because until that day the sons of Israel censured him and called him Nehushtan.
He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; And such as he had not been among all the kings of Judah, both after him and before him.
th And he cleave to the Lord, and not depart from him, and kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses.
th And the Lord was with him: wherever he went, he acted wisely. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and did not serve him.
He smote the Philistines to Gaza and within it, from the watchtower to the fortified city.

In the fourth year of King Hezekiah, that is, in the seventh year of Hosea, the son of Elah, the king of Israel, Salmanessar, the king of Assyria, went to Samaria, and besieged her,
And took her in three years; In the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is, in the ninth year of Hosea, king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
eleven And the king of Assyria carried the men of Israel to Assyria, and put them in Halachah and in Habor, by the river Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,
Because they did not listen to the voice of the Lord their God and transgressed His covenant, everything that Moses commanded the servant of the Lord, they did not listen and did not fulfill.
In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib the king of Assyria came, against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish to say, I am guilty; get away from me; That you will impose upon me, I will bring. And the king of Assyria laid upon Hezekiah king of Judah, three hundred talents of silver, and thirty talents of gold.
And Hezekiah gave all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king's house.
At that time he removed Hezekiah from the doors of the house of the Lord, and from the door pillars that Hezekiah the king of Judah had gilded, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

th And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah with a large army to Jerusalem. And they went and came to Jerusalem; And they went and came and stood by the aqueduct of the upper pond, which is on the road of the beige field.
And they called the king. And Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, the ruler of the palace, went out to them, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder.
And the Rabshakeh said to them, "Say to Hezekiah," Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: What is this hope that you trust? "
You spoke only empty words: for war you need advice and strength. Now, on whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
Now, you are thinking of leaning against Egypt, this broken cane, which, if one leans against it, enters his hand and pierces it. This is Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, for all who trust in him.
And if you say to me: 'We trust in the Lord our God,' then was it that Hezekiah abolished Heights and altars, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, 'Before you, worship in Jerusalem at the altar?'
So enter into an alliance with my lord the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses, can you get riders for them?
How can you overcome one leader from the least servant of my lord? And do you trust in Egypt for chariots and horses?
Besides, did I not go to this place without the will of the Lord to destroy it? The Lord said to me: "Go to this land and destroy it."
th And Eliakim the son of Hilkiah said, and Shebna and Joah the Rabshakeh: Speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand, and do not speak with us in a Jewish way aloud to the people who are on the wall.
th And Rabshakeh said unto them, Did my lord send me to thy master and to thee to say these words? No, also to people who sit on the wall to eat their litter and drink their urine with you.
And Rabshakeh stood up and cried with a loud voice in Judaism, and spoke, and said: "Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria!"
Thus saith the king: Let not Hezekiah deceive you, for he can not save you from my hand;
thirty And let not Hezekiah reassure you by the Lord, saying, The LORD will save us, and this city will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria.
Do not listen to Hezekiah. For thus saith the king of Assyria, Be reconciled to me, and come out unto me, and let every man eat his vine and his fig tree, and let every one drink of water from his well,
Until I come and take you to the land the same as your land to the land of bread and wine, to the land of fruits and vineyards, to the land of olive trees and honey, and you will live and not die. Do not listen to Hezekiah, who deceives you, saying, "The Lord will save us."
Have the gods of the peoples, every one of their lands, been saved from the hand of the king of Assyria?
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Separvaim, Enah and Ivvy? Have they saved Samaria from my hand?
Who among all the gods of these lands has saved his land from my hand? Will the Lord save Jerusalem from my hand?
And the people were silent and did not answer him a word, because there was a command of the king: "Do not answer him."
And Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, the ruler of the palace, came, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of the Rabsaks.
