At that time, the Lord would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
And Elijah said to Elisha, stay here, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel. But Elisha said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth! nor forsake thee. And they went up to Bethel.
And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came to Elisha and said to him, Do you know that today the LORD will take your over thy head? He said: I also know, be silent.
And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth! nor forsake thee. And they came to Jericho.
And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha and said to him, Do you know that the LORD will take your head and lift up above thee? He said: I also know, be silent.
And Elijah said to him: Stay here, because the Lord is sending me to the Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth! nor forsake thee. And they went both of them.
Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, and they two went over on dry ground.

When they crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I am taken from you. And Elisha said, the spirit that is in you, let it be to me twice.
And he said, you ask hard. If you see, I am taken from you, then you will be so, and if you can not see, will not.
eleven As they walked and talked, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
Elisha saw it and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and the horsemen thereof! And he saw him no more. He grabbed his clothes and tore them in two pieces.

And he lifted up the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
and he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah --It most? And struck the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
And we saw his sons of the prophets that were at Jericho, from a distance, and said: Elijah doth rest on Elisha spirit. And they went to meet him, and bowed down to him to the ground,
and said unto him, Behold, there [we] thy servants fifty strong men; let them go and seek thy master; perhaps carried his Spirit of the Lord and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. He said, do not send.
But they urged him for a long time, so that bored him, and he said, Send. And they sent fifty men, and they sought three days, but found him not,
and returned to him, while he tarried at Jericho, and he said to them: Do not go, Did I not tell you?

And they said to the men of the city of Elisha, Behold now, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth; but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
And he said, Bring me a new bowl, and put salt. And they gave him.
And he went out to the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus says the Lord: I have healed these waters, will not be from thence any more death or barren land.
And the waters were healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spake.
And he went up from there to Bethel. When he was in the way, little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; Go up, thou bald head;
He looked around and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the forest, and rend of them forty and two children.
From here he went to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.
