Amos 3

Hear this word which the LORD spake against you, the children of Israel, against all the people that I brought forth out of the land of Egypt, saying,
Only I have recognized you from all the tribes of the earth, therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
Will two walk together, not having agreed?
Is the lion roaring in the forest when there is no prey before it? Does the lion bear his voice from his lair when he does not catch anything?
Will the bird fall into the noose on the ground when there is no silk for it? Will the loop come up from the ground when nothing has got into it?
th Is there a trumpet in the city, and the people would not be frightened? Is there a disaster in the city that the Lord would not allow?
th For the Lord God does nothing, without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets.
The lion began to roar, - who will not shudder? The Lord God said, "Who will not prophesy?"

Proclaim on the roofs of Azot and on the roofs in the land of Egypt, and say: Gather to the mountains of Samaria and look at the great outrage in it and the oppression among it.
They do not know how to do it rightly, says the Lord: by violence and robbery they collect treasures in their palaces.
eleven Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold, the enemy, and round about the whole earth! He will destroy your strength, and your palaces will be plundered.
Thus says the Lord: how [sometimes] the shepherd plucks two legs or part of the ear from the jaws of the lion, so the children of Israel will be saved, sitting in Samaria in the corner of the bed and in Damascus on a bed.
Listen and testify to the house of Jacob, says the Lord God, the God of hosts.
For in the day that I will seek from Israel for his transgressions, I will also seek for the altars in Bethel, and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and shall fall to the ground.
And I will smite the winter house with the summer house, and the houses with ivory ornaments will disappear, and there will not be many houses, says the Lord.
