Galatians 3

Previous chapter Index Next chapter

O foolish Galatians! who hath bewitched you not to obey the truth, [you], before whose eyes Jesus Christ [as] [have] crucified among you?
This only would I learn of you, through the works of the law, you have received the Spirit, or by the hearing of faith?
Are you so foolish? Having begun in spirit, are now being perfected by the flesh?
Have you suffered so many things in vain? Oh, if only in vain!
Feeding the Spirit to you and works miracles among you by works of the law [worketh], or by the hearing of faith?

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Know also that believers are sons of Abraham.
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached before the gospel to Abraham, saying, In thee all nations be blessed.
Thus believers are blessed with faithful Abraham,
and all of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written: Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things written in the book of the law.
eleven But that no man is justified before God is evident, because The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith; but who takes it, he will live by them.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us - for it is written: Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree -
so that the blessing of Abraham through Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Brethren! speak [reasoning] human: even the man Probate nobody cancels and does not add [to it].
Now to Abraham were the promises made and to his seed. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
I say, do not cancel the covenant that Christ, before God approved, the law, which was four hundred thirty years, so that the promise of no effect.
For if the law of inheritance, it is no more of promise; but God gave Abraham [signified] by promise.

What is the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom [belongs] promise, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
But the mediator is not one, but God is one.
Law then against the promises of God? Rubbish! For if a law was given, could impart life, then righteousness would have been by the law;
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise was given to the believer through faith in Jesus Christ.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, before the [time] to be revealed faith.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith;
that faith has come, we are no longer under the [leadership] schoolmaster.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus;
all of you in Christ were baptized into Christ have put on.
There is neither Jew nor Gentile; neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to promise.
