Hebrews 8

Previous chapter Index Next chapter

The main thing in what we are talking about is this: we have such a High Priest who sat on the right hand of the throne of greatness in heaven
And [is] the priest of the sanctuary and the true tabernacle, which the Lord set up, and not man.
Every high priest is supplied to offer gifts and sacrifices; And therefore it was necessary that this also had what to bring.
If He were to remain on earth, he would not be a priest either, because there are such priests who, by law, bring gifts,
Which serve the image and shadow of heaven, as was said to Moses, when he proceeded to make the tabernacle: Look, it is said, do everything according to the image shown to you on the mountain.

th But He [the High Priest] received a ministry that is superior to the best He is the intercessor of the covenant, which is approved on the best promises.
th For if the first [covenant] was without shortage, then there would be no need to seek a place for another.
But the [prophet], reproaching them, says: Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,
Not the covenant that I made with their fathers at the time when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not abide in that covenant with me, and I despised them, says the Lord.
This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their thoughts, and I will write them on their hearts; And I will be their God, and they will be my people.
eleven And he shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord; Because everyone from the least to the greatest will know Me,
Because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities I will remember no more.
Saying `new ', showed the oldness of the first; And the decrepit and aging is close to annihilation.
