Jeremiah 10

Listen to the word that the LORD has spoken to you, the house of Israel.
Thus saith the LORD: Learn not the ways of the Gentiles, neither be dismayed at the signs of the heavens, which the Gentiles fear.
For the charters of peoples are emptiness: they cut down a tree in the forest, make it with the carpenter's hands with the help of an ax,
Cover with silver and gold, attach with nails and a hammer, so as not to stagger.
They are like a polished pillar, and do not speak; They are worn because they can not walk. Do not be afraid of them, for they can not do evil, but they can not do good either.
th There is none like You, Lord! You are great, and your name is great in power.
th Who will not fear Thee, King of the nations? For to you belongs this; Because among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like you.
Everyone to one they are meaningless and stupid; Empty teaching is a tree.
Silver broken into sheets was brought from Tarshish, gold from Ufaz, the work of the artist and the hands of the smelter; Clothes for them - hyacinth and purple: all this is the work of skillful people.
But the Lord God is truth; He is the living God and the eternal King. From his wrath the earth trembles, and the nations can not withstand his indignation.
eleven So you say to them: the gods who did not create heaven and earth, will disappear from the earth and from under the heavens.
He made the earth by his power, he established the world by his wisdom, and spread his skies with his mind.
In his voice noisy waters in heaven, and He raises clouds from the ends of the earth, makes lightning in the rain, and winds the wind out of his vaults.
Every man is insane in his knowledge, every melter demolishes himself with his graven image, for the mishmash he has is a lie, and there is no spirit in him.
It is a complete emptiness, a matter of error; During their visit they will disappear.
The portion of Jacob is not like theirs; For [His God] is the Creator of all, and Israel is the rod of His heritage; His name is the LORD of hosts.

th Take away your property from the ground, which has to sit in siege;
For thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will cast out the inhabitants of this land this time and drive them into a close place to seize them.
Woe is me in my sorrow; My wound is painful, but I say [in myself]: "truly, this is my sorrow, and I will carry it;
My tent is desolate, and all my ropes are torn; My children have gone from me, and there are none: no one will stretch out my tent and hang my carpets,
For the shepherds became senseless and did not seek the Lord, and therefore they acted foolishly, and their whole flock is scattered. "
There is a rumor: here it comes, and a great noise from the northern country, that the cities of Judah be made a desolation, the dwelling of jackals.
I know, Lord, that his way is not in the will of man, that it is not in the power of the one who is going to give direction to his feet.
Punish me, O Lord, but in truth, not in your anger, so as not to detract from me.
Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that do not know thee, and upon the nations that call not thy name; For they ate of Jacob, devoured it, and destroyed it, and dwelt in its habitation.
