And it was to me the word of the Lord: |
2
not take a wife, and let there be no you neither sons nor daughters in this place. |
3
For thus saith the LORD concerning the sons and daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and about their fathers that begat them in this land: |
4
They die of grievous deaths; they will not be lamented; neither are buried; shall be as dung on the surface of the earth; sword and famine shall be cut off, and their bodies will be food for the birds of the air and beasts of the earth. |
5
For thus saith the Lord: Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them; for I have taken away from this people, saith the Lord, my peace, and mercy, and regret. |
6
And great and small shall die in this land; and they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament them, nor cut themselves, nor for them to get a haircut. |
7
And they will not tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father and their mother. |
8
Do not go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and drink; |
9
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will stop at this place in your eyes and in your days the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.
10
When you retell this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee what the Lord hath spoken against us all this great evil, and what is our iniquity, or what is our sin which we have sinned against the Lord our God '? - |
eleven
then tell them, because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and served them, and worshiped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law. |
12
And you have done worse than your fathers and live each in the stubbornness of his evil heart, not to hearken unto Me. |
13
I cast you out of this land to the land which they know not, neither you nor your fathers, and there you will serve other gods day and night; I will not shew you favor.
14
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when there will no longer say, `As the LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt '; |
15
but `As the LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the north country and from all the lands whither he had driven them ': will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers. |
16
Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them; and then I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and from every hill, and from holes of the rocks. |
17
For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes. |
18
And I will restore them primarily for their iniquity and their sin is purely because they have defiled my land with the carcasses of their detestable and their abominable things have filled My inheritance. |
19
O Lord, my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of trouble! to thee the Gentiles shall come from the ends of the earth and say, `inherited lies our fathers, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. ' |
20
Can a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? |
21
Therefore, behold, I will show them now, they'll show up my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is - God. |
