After Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. It was so: |
2
There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. |
3
Simon Peter saith to them: I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. |
4
And when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore; but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. |
5
Jesus said to them: Children! do you have any food? They answered him: No. |
6
He said to them: Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and were no longer able to pull [the network] from a variety of fish. |
7
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter: It is the Lord. Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, girded garment --ibo he was naked, --and plunged into the sea. |
8
And the other disciples came in the boat, --ibo were not far from land, about two hundred cubits, --tascha the net with fishes. |
9
When they got out on land, they saw a fire and fish lying on it and bread. |
10
Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which you have now caught. |
eleven
Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land full of great fishes, [which was] hundred fifty-three; and there were so many net was not torn. |
12
Jesus said to them: Come, and dine. None of the disciples dared ask him, Who art thou ?, knowing that it was the Lord. |
13
Jesus cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish. |
14
This is now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after the resurrection from the dead.
15
When they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah! Do you love me more than these? [Peter] said to Him, Lord! You know I love you. [Jesus] saith unto him, Feed my lambs. |
16
He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonah! do you love me? [Peter] said to Him, Lord! You know I love you. [Jesus] said unto him, Feed my sheep. |
17
He said to him the third time: Simon, son of Jonah! do you love me? Peter was grieved because the third time asked him: Do you love me? and he said unto him, O Lord! You know everything; You know I love you. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. |
18
Verily, verily, I say unto you, when you were young, you girded yourself and walked where you would; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and another gird thee, and lead, where you do not want. |
19
He also said this, signifying by what death [Peter] would glorify God. And having said this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
20
Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, and who at the supper leaned on his breast and said, Lord! who is to betray you? |
21
Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord! and he that? |
22
Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what you [before]? You follow me. |
23
Then it went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. But Jesus did not say to him that will not die, but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what you [before]? |
24
This is the disciple testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. |
25
And many other things which Jesus did; but if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books written. Amen. |
