Lamentations 2

1 As the Lord darkened in his wrath the daughter of Zion! from the sky down to the ground the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger.
2 The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, are not spared, destroyed in his wrath the strong daughter of Judah, down to the ground, rejected the kingdom and its princes as unclean:
3 in the heat of anger all the horn of Israel, took his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, devouring all around;
4 bent his bow like an enemy, he sent his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye; In the tent of the daughter of Zion he poured out his fury like fire.
5 The Lord has become like an enemy, he destroyed Israel destroyed all its palaces, and destroyed his strong increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.
6 And he took his fence, like a garden; he has destroyed his place of assembly: the LORD hath caused to be forgotten in Zion festival and sabbath; and the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
7 The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary from the betrayed into the hands of the enemy the walls of her palaces; in the house of the Lord, they made a noise like a holiday.
8 God purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion, he stretched rope, not withdrawn his hand from destroying; destroyed the outer fortification wall and destroyed together.
9 Her gates are sunk into the ground; He has destroyed and broken her bars; her king and her princes - among the Gentiles; It did not become law, and her prophets find no vision from the Lord.

10 Sit on the ground silently elders of the daughter of Zion, they cast dust on their heads, girded with sackcloth; They lowered their heads to the ground virgins of Jerusalem.

13 What I tell you, nothing to compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea; who can heal you?
14 Your prophets have proveschal you false and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for you false revelations and led you into exile.
15 Hands at thee all that pass by, they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, `Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth '?
16 They gaped at you with their mouths all your enemies: they hiss and gnash their teeth and say, `We have swallowed it, this is the day we waited, waited, saw! '
17 The LORD that determined his word, spoken in the days of old, destroyed without mercy, and gave the enemy to rejoice over thee, exalted the horn of thine adversaries.
18 Their heart cried to the Lord: wall of the daughter of Zion! Lei stream with tears night and day, do not let yourself rest, do not pull the apple of your eyes.
19 Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; Pour out as water thy heart before the Lord; hands toward him thy of thy young children, who faint from hunger at the head of every street.
20 `Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this, the women eat their fruit, and children of a span? be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord the priest and prophet?
21 Children and old men lie on the ground on the streets; virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword; You have killed them in the day of thy anger; without mercy.
22 Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors, and the day of the LORD's anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy destroyed '.
