And when he came out of the house that day, he sat by the sea. |
2
And a multitude of people was gathered to Him, so He entered the boat and sat down; And all the people stood on the shore. |
3
And he taught them many parables, saying, Behold, a sower went out to sow; |
4
And when he sowed, some fell by the way, and the birds flew in and pecked it; |
5
The other fell into stony places, where there was little land, and soon rose, because the earth was shallow. |
6th
When the sun rose, it withered, and, as it had no root, withered; |
7th
The other fell into thorns, and thorns grew and drowned it; |
8
The other fell on the good land and brought forth the fruit: one hundred times, the other at sixty, and the other at thirty. |
9
He who has ears to hear, let him hear! |
10
And when they had come, the disciples said to Him, "Why are you talking in parables to them?" |
eleven
He answered them, "Because it is given to you to know the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, and it is not given to them, |
12
For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and shall abound; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away also that which he hath; |
13
Therefore I tell them in parables that they see not see, and hear not, and do not understand; |
14
And the prophecy of Isaiah comes true over them, which says: You will hear by hearing - and you will not understand, and you will see with your eyes - and you will not see, |
15
For the heart of these people is hardened, and they can hardly hear with their ears, and they close their eyes, and they will not see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and they will not understand with their heart, and let them not turn so that I heal them. |
16
But blessed are your eyes that see, and your ears that hear, |
17th
For verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see, and hear what you hear, and did not hear. |
18
But hear ye the parable of the sower: |
19
To everyone who hears the word of the Kingdom and does not understand, the wicked one comes and steals the seed that was sown in his heart - that's who it means to be sown at the time of the journey. |
20
And he that is sown in stony places means one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; |
21
But does not have a root in itself and is unstable: when tribulation or persecution for the word comes, immediately becomes tempted. |
22
And he who is sown in thorns means one who hears the word, but the care of this age and the deceit of wealth drowns out the word, and it is fruitless. |
23
But that which is sown on good soil means a he who hears the word and understands, which is fruitful, so that another yields a hundredfold, another sixty, and another at thirty.
24
He proposed another parable to them, saying: The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed a good seed in his field; |
25
When the people slept, his enemy came and sowed tares between the wheat and left; |
26th
When the green rose and the fruit appeared, then the tares appeared also. |
27th
And when the servants of the housekeeper came, they said to him: Sir! Did not the good seed sow in your field? Where does the tares come from? |
28
He said to them: the enemy of man did this. And the slaves said to him: Do you want, we will go, will we choose them? |
29
But he said: no, - that, when choosing tares, you did not pull out the wheat along with them, |
thirty
Leave to grow together both that and the harvest; And in the harvest time I will say to the reapers: gather the tares first, and bind them in sheaves to burn them, and take the wheat into my barn. |
31
He offered another parable to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, |
32
Which, though less than all the seeds, but when it grows, it is more than all the cereals and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and hide in its branches. |
33
He told a different parable to them: The Kingdom of Heaven is like a leaven, which the woman took and put in three measures of flour, until all was leavened. |
34
All this Jesus spoke to the people in parables, and without a parable he did not tell them, |
35
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will speak secret things from the foundation of the world. |
36
Then Jesus, having released the people, entered the house. And when His disciples came to Him, His disciples said: Explain to us the parable of the tares in the field. |
37
And he answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; |
38
The field is the world; A good seed, these are the sons of the Kingdom, and the tares are the sons of the wicked one; |
39
The enemy who sowed them is the devil; The harvest is the end of the century, and the reapers are the angels. |
40
Therefore, how the tares are gathered and burned with fire, so it will be at the end of this century: |
41
The Son of man will send his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom all the stumbling blocks and those who practice iniquity, |
42
And cast them into a fiery furnace; There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth; |
43
Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
44
The Kingdom of Heaven also resembles a treasure hidden in the field, which the person, having found, hides, and by the joy of it goes and sells everything that he has, and buys that field. |
45
Even the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for good pearls, |
46
Who, finding one precious pearl, went and sold everything he had, and bought it. |
47
Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a seine cast into the sea and seized all sorts of fish, |
48
Which, when it was full, was dragged to shore, and, having sat down, the good was gathered into vessels, and the bad one was thrown out. |
49
So it will be at the end of the age: the angels will come forth, and they will separate the wicked from among the righteous, |
50
And they shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. |
51
And Jesus asked them: Did you understand all this? They say to Him: So, Lord! |
52
He told them: therefore, every scribe, taught the Kingdom of Heaven, is like a master who takes out of his treasury new and old.
53
And when Jesus had finished these parables, he went from thence. |
54
And when he was come to his fatherland, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said: how did he get such wisdom and strength? |
55
Is he not a carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers Jacob and Josiah, and Simon, and Judas? |
56
And his sisters are not all of us? Where does He get all this? |
57
And they were offended about Him. And Jesus said unto them, There is no prophet without honor, except in his own country and in his house. |
58
And he did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief. |
