Matthew 28

Previous chapter Index

After the Sabbath, at the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the coffin.
And behold, there was a great earthquake, for the Angel of the Lord descended from heaven, came, rolled away the stone from the door of the coffin and sat on it;
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow;
When they were afraid of him, they that watched came in trembling, and stood like the dead;
And the angel, turning his speech to the women, said: Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus crucified;
th He is not here - He has risen, as He said. Come, look at the place where the Lord lay,
th And go quickly, tell his disciples that he rose from the dead and precedes you in Galilee; There you will see Him. Now, I told you.
And having come hastily out of the sepulcher, they ran with fear and great joy to tell his disciples.
But when they went to tell his disciples, and Jesus met them and said: Rejoice! And they, having come, took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
Then Jesus saith unto them, Fear not; Go and tell my brethren that they will go to Galilee, and there they will see me.

eleven As they walked, some of the guards entered the city and announced to the high priests all that had happened.
And when they had gathered with the elders and made a conference, they gave enough money to the soldiers,
And they said, Say that his disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep;
And if the rumor about it reaches the ruler, we will convince him, and we will save you from trouble.
They took money, they did as they were taught; And the word spread out among the Jews to this day.

Eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain, where Jesus commanded them,
th And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him, and some doubted.
And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority is given to me in heaven and on earth."
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; And lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Amen.
