See, do not do your alms before men so that they will see you: otherwise there will be no reward from your Father in heaven. |
2
So, when you do alms, do not blow your nose, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that people may glorify them. Verily I say unto you, they already receive their reward. |
3
But when you do alms, do not let your left hand know what the right hand is doing, |
4
That your alms be in secret; And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
5
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites who love in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets, stopping, praying, to appear before people. Verily I say unto you, that they already receive their reward. |
6th
You, when you pray, enter your room and, shutting your door, pray to your Father, who is in secret; And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. |
7th
And when you pray, do not say too much, like pagans, for they think they will be heard in their verbosity; |
8
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him.
9
So pray therefore: Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be thy name. |
10
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; |
eleven
Give us this day our daily bread. |
12
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; |
13
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and power and glory forever. Amen. |
14
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, |
15
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16
Also, when fasting, do not be dull as hypocrites, for they take on grim faces to appear to people fasting. Verily I say unto you, that they already receive their reward. |
17th
But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, |
18
To appear fasting not before men, but before your Father, who is in secret; And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
19
Do not collect to yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, |
20
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal, |
21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. |
22
The lamp for the body is the eye. If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light; |
23
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. So if the light that is in you is darkness, then what is the darkness? |
24
No one can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; Or one will be zealous, and the other to be naked. You can not serve God and mammon.
25
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you must eat, or what to drink, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the soul more than food, and the body of clothing? |
26th
Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; And your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than them? |
27th
And which of you, taking care, can add to himself the growth of [one] one elbow? |
28
And what about clothes that you care for? Look at the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither labor nor spin; |
29
But I say to you, that even in all his glory Solomon did not dress like any of them; |
thirty
If the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow will be thrown into the oven, God so clothes, how much more than you, little faithful! |
31
So do not worry and do not say: what do we have? Or what to drink? Or what should I wear? |
32
Because all this is sought by the Gentiles, and because your Heavenly Father knows that you have need of all this. |
33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. |
34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow [self] will take care of itself: it is enough for [each] day of their care. |
