(79-1) ^^ To the chief Musician. On the music [gun] Shoshana-Eduf. A Psalm of Asaph. ^^ (79-2) Shepherd of Israel! give ear; driving, as the flock of Joseph, who sits upon the cherubim, shine forth. |

(79-3) Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us. |

(79-4) O God! Turn us again; thy face to shine, and we shall be saved! |

(79-5) O Lord God of hosts! how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people? |

(79-6) Thou feedest them with the bread of tears, and gave them drink tears in large measure, |

(79-7) put us in a strife unto our neighbors, and our enemies mock [on us]. |

(79-8) O God of hosts! Turn us again; thy face to shine, and we shall be saved!

(79-9) out of Egypt suffered You vine cast out the heathen, and planted it; |

(79-10) cleared a place for it, and approved its roots, and it filled the land. |

(79-11) The mountains were covered with its shadow, and the boughs thereof were like cedars of God |

(79-12) She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches to the river. |

(79-13) for which you destroyed its walls, so that it terminated all who pass along the way? |

(79-14) Forest boar undermines it, and beast of the field doth devour it. |

(79-15) God of hosts! Let us turn down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; |

(79-16) Protection that Thy right hand planted, and the branch that thou hast confirmed himself. |

|
(79-17) It is burned with fire, cut down; the rebuke of Thy countenance shall perish. |
| 17
|
(79-18) Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed to Himself, |

(79-19), and we will not fail you; quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. |

(79-20) O Lord God of hosts! Turn us again; thy face to shine, and we shall be saved! |
