Romans 13

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers, for there is no authority except from God; the existing authorities are ordained of God.
Therefore he who resists the authority resists the ordinance of God. And those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Wilt thou not be afraid of the power? Do good, and you will have praise from it,
for [superior] is God's servant for your good. If you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain: he is the minister of God, the avenger to punish the wrongdoer.
Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only because of [the fear of] punishment, but also for conscience sake.
For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, this very thing.

Therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; who rents, dues; to whom fear, fear; honor to whom honor.
Owe no man any thing, but to love; for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.
For the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, do not bear false witness, You shall not covet [stranger], and all the other summed up in this word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

eleven So [proceed], knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep. For now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The night passed, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.
As in the day, let us behave decently, not [indulge] no rioting and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and envy;
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
