Linear circuits with non-sinusoidal periodic currents

In practice, a non-sinusoidal voltages and currents must be approached in two ways:

electric power in the power non-sinusoidal currents cause in the general case, the additional loss of power, torque ripple at the motor shaft, causing interference in communication lines; so there must be "every effort" maintaining sinusoidal modes;

in automation and communication circuits where the sinusoidal currents and voltages are the basis of the principle of action of electrical devices, the challenge is to the contrary of their amplification and transmission with minimum distortion.

In general, the nature of the variables changes may be periodic, almost periodic and non-periodic. This section will only be considered a chain with periodic variables.

Periodic non-sinusoidal variables are variables that change in time for the periodic non-sinusoidal law. Causes of non-sinusoidal voltages and currents may be due or non-sinusoidal supply, or (ii) the presence of a chain of at least one non-linear element. Furthermore, based on the appearance of non-sinusoidal currents can lie elements with periodically changing parameters.
