The Nikola Tesla Museum

Nikola Tesla Museum is located in the central area of ​​Belgrade, in a residential villa built in 1927 according to the project of Dražić Brasovan, an outstanding Serbian architect.

The building was used for various purposes until December 5, 1952, when the Nikola Tesla Museum was founded in accordance with the decision of the Government of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.

Material for the Museum arrived in Belgrade in accordance with the decision of the American court, which announced Mr. Sava Kosanovich, nephew of Tesla, the only legitimate heir. In 1949, in Belgrade, in accordance with the last will of Tesla, Mr. Kosanovich handed over to the Museum all the documents and personal belongings of Tesla.

The Nikola Tesla Museum is a unique institution of science and culture in Yugoslavia and in the world. It is the only museum in the world that preserves the original and personal heritage of Nikola Tesla .

The museum owns several collections of exceptional value: more than 160,000 original documents, more than 2,000 books and magazines, more than 1,200 historical technical exhibits, over 1,500 photographs and original photographs on photographic plates of technical objects, instruments and apparatus, over 1,000 plans and drawings.

The museum preserves the most extensive collection of documents in the world concerning the life and work of Nikola Tesla. Therefore, it plays an essential role in providing access to information for researchers of the history of science, inventions and patent law. And also for environmental projects and the study of sources of clean energy.

A special role for the Museum is to organize, support and promote research from the history of science that could help to better understand Tesla's contribution to the development of science and engineering thought of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
