9.7. NOMINAL INCLUSIVE AND DISABLING CAPACITY (COMMUTATIVE ABILITY) I m

The switching capacity depends on the level of the technical design of the device - the quality of the power contacts, the power of the spring drive, the material (plastic or metal parts) and the quality of the mechanism, the presence of an arc suppression chamber, etc. This parameter largely determines the reliability of the RCD.

In some emergency modes, the RCD must disconnect the overcurrent, ahead of the circuit-breaker, and it must remain operational.
