INFLATABLE MAGNETIC ROTARY BEARING

Bearings are the most common and important element of many mechanisms from the car to the spaceship and rocket. However, mechanical bearings have almost exhausted their development. They have fast wear, require systematic care and are short-lived. In addition, mechanical bearings have a limitation on the speed of rotation, and reliability, which narrows their field of application. Electromagnetic contactless bearings of rotation are known. However, these are quite complex and expensive devices.

Progress in the field of improving the characteristics of permanent magnets makes it possible to create a sufficiently powerful extremely simple in design and absolutely non-contact magnetic bearing. Its design is shown in Fig. 1. The force repulsion of cylindrical magnets 2,3 compensates the load on shaft 6 along the radial axis and. The strong repulsion of end magnets 4, 5 from the stator magnets and the rotor 2,3 compensates for the axial loads of the bearing. As a result, a self-balancing, fully-current, fully-current, non-contact magnetic shaft dynamic system is created. 6 This new and promising application of permanent magnets makes it possible to create an extremely simple and inexpensive contactless bearing in general without losses and with an unlimited lifespan.

In Fig . 1, for the purpose of simplifying the drawing, some other small details of the design of such a magnetic bearing are not shown. The main distinguishing feature of the proposed simple and elegant technical solution consists in an original combination of magnets along two axes of coordinates for automatic compensation of both axial and radial loads on the shaft of this bearing. In the case of using high technologies for the precise construction of such a non-contact suspension with the observance of minimum gaps of a millimeter between magnets using modern samarium-cobalt magnets, such magnets can be quite effectively used in dynamic modes of shaft loads in vehicles up to 200 kilowatts of mechanical power.
