METHOD OF PROCESSING OF LAYER GOLD

The name of the inventor: Karpukhin AI; Stelkina II; Rybkin S.G.
The name of the patent holder: Joint Stock Company "Irgiredmet"
Address for correspondence:
Date of commencement of the patent: 1996.07.15

Usage: concerns the refining of noble metals, in particular the separation of the natural alloy of gold and silver with the extraction of gold into the solution.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION: The method includes melting the starting material to produce an alloy, granulating it and leaching it in a solution of royal vodka. New in the method is that in the alloy before melting copper is added in an amount of 10-60% by weight of silver. The method makes it possible to increase the recovery of gold into the solution.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to the area of refining of precious metals and can be used to extract gold from gold-silver raw material into a solution.

A method is known for processing an alloy containing a small amount of silver , including granulation of the alloy and leaching of the granules when heated with aqua regia [1].

The drawbacks of the method include a low degree of gold recovery at an elevated silver content.

There is also a known method for processing graded gold , which is chosen for the prototype as being the closest to the proposed. The method involves melting the starting material to produce an alloy with a mass ratio of gold to silver of greater than or equal to 4, granulating and leaching in solution with royal vodka [2].

The shortcomings of the known method include:

A low degree of extraction of gold in the solution from the widely distributed schlich gold with a mass ratio of gold to silver of 4 to 9;

At a mass ratio Au / Ag = 11.8, a high recovery of gold in the solution ( 99.97% ) is achieved, but to obtain such a ratio it is required to add additional circulating gold before melting and granulation, which increases the prime cost of processing gold concentrate almost 2 times.

The object of the invention is to eliminate these drawbacks, namely, to increase the recovery of gold from the gold-silver alloy in the solution by decreasing the density and thickness of the silver chloride layer formed during the leaching of the granules by royal vodka.

This technical result is achieved in that in the process for processing gold concentrate, including melting the starting material to produce an alloy, granulating it and leaching the granules in a solution of hydrochloric and nitric acids (royal vodka), according to the invention, copper is added to the alloy in an amount of 10-60 % Of the mass of silver.

The essence of the invention lies in the fact that copper reacts intensely with aqua regia with the release of heat and nitrogen oxides, and this leads to loosening and reduction of silver chloride film formed on the granules. Thus, the addition of copper provides a more complete access to the molecules of royal vodka to gold and its dissolution.

It was experimentally established that the ligature gold granules after leaching for 1 h are covered with a layer of AgCl with a thickness: for an alloy without copper of 170-220 μm ; For an alloy with copper 50-100 microns .

The presence of a set of essential features that differentiate the claimed invention from the prototype, makes it consistent with its criterion of "novelty." The conformity of the claimed invention to the requirement of the "inventive level" is due to the fact that the totality of its distinguishing characteristics facilitates loosening and reduction of the silver chloride layer and thereby contributes to the almost complete dissolution of gold and its separation from silver, which clearly does not follow from the prior art.

Example 1 (by prototype)
Alloys with different mass ratio Au / Ag , obtained after melting of graded gold ( from s / a "Transbaikalia" ), were melted and granulated, then the granules (weighed 20-40 g ) were leached with aqua regia (at the ratio of hydrochloric and nitric acids 3: 1 ) For 4 hours at 75 ° C. Gold and silver were determined in test cakes, and in solutions - by atomic absorption methods. The results of the experiments are presented in Table. 1 .

Example 2 (according to the proposed method)
The experimental conditions are the same as in Example 1, only copper was added to the alloy before melting and granulation. The temperature during the leaching was maintained at 60-75 ° C. The temperature of the leaching process can be reduced from 75 ° C to 60 , since the extraction of gold into the solution does not decrease, and the amount of gasses is reduced.

The results of the experiments are presented in Table. 2 . The presented results show that the addition of copper to the alloy alloy before melting and granulation allows a significant (by 1-5% ) increase in the extraction of gold in the solution for the most widespread in nature ( Au / Ag mass ratio) graded gold. This effect is enhanced by the addition of copper to the alloy 10-60% of the mass of silver.

METHOD OF PROCESSING OF LAYER GOLD. Patent of the Russian Federation RU2112062

Taking into account that the mass concentration of silver in the solution is 0.15-0.05 g / l , the silver recovery in the cake is at least 99% , i.e. An effective separation of gold from silver is ensured.

The developed method for processing graded gold is supposed to be used at the Chita refining plant.

CLAIM

A method for processing graded gold, which includes melting the starting material to produce ingots of the gold-silver alloy, melting the ingots of the gold-silver alloy, followed by granulation and leaching of the obtained gold-silver alloy pellets in the royal vodka solution, characterized in that copper is added to the silver-silver alloy ingots before melting, Is equal to 10 - 60% of the mass of silver contained in the gold-silver alloy.
