Use: processing of precious stones for the jewelry industry. The method involves mechanically polishing corundum, applying a metal film capable of spinel formation to it, and heat treatment at 1000-1300 ° C in an oxygen atmosphere for 0.5-2.0. During the sputtering process, appropriate screens are used and the process is repeatedly performed on one or more corundum sites of one or more different metals. A polychrome color and a given color pattern are obtained. When cobalt and iron were sprayed using a screen screen, corundum with a net distribution of intense blue and orange colors was obtained.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to methods for treating gemstones, in particular to methods for staining corundum, and may find use in the jewelry industry.

The closest technical solution adopted for the prototype is the method for staining corundum [1]. According to this method, the corundum crystals are polished, sputtering with a metal capable of spinel forming with corundum. The final operation of the method is solid-phase synthesis in an oxygen atmosphere at a temperature of 1000-1300 ° C.

The disadvantage of the prototype is the impossibility of obtaining polychromatic coloring, and the given color pattern of corundum products.

To achieve polychromism in a known method, including polishing corundum, deposition of a metal film capable of spinel forming with corundum, and solid phase synthesis in an oxygen atmosphere at a temperature of 1000-1300 ° C, the deposition of a metal film is repeatedly performed; And to obtain a given color pattern, the corresponding screens are used, and solid phase synthesis is carried out for 0.5-2 hours.

A comparative analysis of the claimed solution with a prototype shows that the method is characterized by conditions for conducting sputtering and solid-phase synthesis: multiplicity, the use of screens, the duration of synthesis. Thus, the proposed solution meets the criterion of "novelty".

Comparison of the claimed method not only with the prototype, but also with other known solutions in the field (patent research certificate) shows that the features distinguishing the claimed invention from the prototype have not been identified, and therefore they provide the claimed technical solution with the criterion "essential Differences. "

METHOD REALIZES AS FOLLOWED

The corundum after polishing is placed in a sputtering unit and a metal film is sprayed, capable of spinel forming with corundum. And for obtaining polychromism, sputtering is carried out repeatedly, and for the formation of a color pattern, appropriate screens of a given configuration are used. After spraying, the samples are placed in a reactor, heated to a temperature of 1000-1300 ° C in an oxygen atmosphere and held for 0.5-2 hours, depending on the synthesis temperature.

Exemplary embodiments of the method are shown in the table.

The choice of conditions and optimal process parameters is determined by the following.

By repeated deposition, the effect of applying one or more corundum sites to one or more different metals capable of forming the corresponding spinels in an oxygen atmosphere is achieved. Multiple sputtering makes it possible to introduce chromophore elements into the composition of the sputtered metal film, which cause the manifestation of one or the other color. Using screens of a given configuration makes it possible to form the desired pattern or pattern.

The chosen interval of time and temperature of the synthesis is determined by the fact that at a temperature of 1000 ° C and an annealing time of 2 h, the color intensity reaches a maximum. At an annealing time of less than or more than 2 hours, the intensity of the color decreases: in the first case, due to incompletely passed synthesis, in the second because of the dissolution of the metal in corundum. The maximum color intensity at 1300 ° C is achieved within 0.5 hours. With a shorter or longer annealing time, the color intensity decreases for the reasons indicated above.

The effectiveness of the proposed method consists in obtaining a wide range of colored corundum suitable for use in the jewelry industry.
