"NEFTEKLIN" - magnetic adsorbent COLLECTOR FOR REMOVAL
OIL SPILL FROM THE WATER
AND WITH SOLID SURFACES

Scientific and technical literature on the latest energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies

D. Gurevich

Among the most important environmental issues of global scale, the solution of which requires urgent environmental protection, notably the following three issues:

  1. Picking up oil spills from water surface and beaches with hard surfaces, soil, etc. (elimination of one large tanker accident is several billion $ US and takes several years.);
  2. The rise from the bottom of bodies of water such as heavy oil bitumen fractions (for this reason, transport of heavy oil products by sea is prohibited International Registry);
  3. Recycling of secondary waste and sludge generated in the processes of natural and waste waters (approximately 7.5 bln. Tons / year).

This project allows us to solve all three of the above problems by using the same technology and the use of a fundamentally new magnetic adsorbent-collector "NEFTEKLIN".
"Nefteklin" - is:

a) a reagent that converts the oil into a magnetically susceptible material, whereby it becomes possible collecting of oil spills from surface water and solid surfaces with a magnetic field;

b) technology, which allows to lift heavy oil "concretions" that lie at the bottom of the reservoir, on the surface, and removing them from the water by a magnetic field;

c) material, the raw material for the production of which may serve as a secondary waste water treatment plants for, at the same time the production of reagent "Nefteklin" can be performed directly in water treatment processes; as a result - a useless waste is converted into a useful product.

Using "Nefteklina" possible for:

  • oil spill in the seas, rivers, lakes, etc .;
  • cleaning of coasts, lifting heavy petroleum from the bottom of bodies of water (a problem that has no solution at the moment);
  • water treatment, polluted with oil products;
  • cleaning of technological solutions used in oil production;
  • Water purification of waste oil production and refineries.

use of technology

  • Collector powder sprayed over the surface of oil contamination (stains, lenses, films);
  • The reagent has a high buoyancy on the surface (within a month or more), because it has a pronounced hydrophobic properties;
  • The reagent can be easily connected with oil: contact with their surface, it is immediately pulled into the oil "body" and tells him its magnetic susceptibility;
  • The minimum weight ratio at which the oil becomes magnitnovospriimchivoy - a collective (adsorption) capacity - of the order of: agent: oil = 1: 40;
  • This magnetic or electromagnetic devices can be used for the collection of oil floating on the surface of the water or on the surface of solids (eg, soil, stones), and for the collection of granular materials (eg, sand), contaminated with oil products;
  • The collected oil can be recovered by magnetic separation;
  • Magnetic collector can be used repeatedly;
  • For the collection of oil, polluting the coast of objects, and lifting lying at the bottom of the magnetic heavy mineral oil collector can be used, which had previously been used for the collection of oil floating on the water surface.

Production technology

  • The adsorbent-collector is obtained from the secondary waste industry and / or agriculture;
  • Production can be arranged anywhere, including on the ship - skimmers in any climatic zone;
  • The raw materials can be used and natural materials encountered in different climatic zones;
  • The adsorbent-collector can be obtained from the sediments formed during the treatment of industrial waste water, and also directly in the treatment of industrial waste water;
  • Production costs are comparable with the price of crude oil and is estimated to be about US $ 100 per ton of adsorbent-collector;
  • The technology for producing an adsorbent-gatherer worked at the laboratory level.

Benefits of the proposed product

  • Cost of production of the product several times lower than the price of similar reagents in the global market;
  • The collection agent the ability to exceed the average level analogues (1: 25);
  • The collected oil is practically not captures water;
  • The reagent can be used for picking up a heavy oil products (fuel oil, solarium) and light (gasoline, kerosene)
  • Collected using "Nefteklina" oil can be used for its intended purpose;
  • For the separation of oil from the collector does not require significant energy consumption;
  • The reagent can be used repeatedly;
  • "Nefteklin" allows for useful use of recycled industrial waste, no application is currently;
  • The authors offer cooking technology "Nefteklina" adapted to different types of raw materials;
  • "Nefteklin" is an environmentally friendly material that is compatible with the environment, because it is made from natural raw materials.

project Status

  • "Nefteklin" - a fundamentally new magnetic collector hydrophobic adsorbent (protected by US patent application);
  • The project was developed at the level of the technical proposal and tested experimentally in the laboratory;
  • A letter of interest in the project by Mr. Gad Mendelson, Deputy General Director of "Israel Refineries' Ltd. (Haifa).

    Note the additional features in the development of the project which have not yet received experimental verification or have been tested only in preliminary experiments:
    • Creating effective filters for:
      • oily waste waters and technological solutions of oil production;

      • municipal wastewater to a level that ensures the possibility of their utilization in agriculture.

    • Cleaning the internal surfaces of the process equipment, contaminated with oil products (eg, containers).

REMOVING THE OIL SPILL FROM SURFACE WATER AND WITH SOLID SURFACES

For industrial implementation "Nefteklina" and the product to market, investments in the amount of 1 750 000 €.

Approximate duration of the project - 28 months

According to various expert estimates, the profit that can be obtained from the sale of technology "Nefteklin", will be from 100 to 200 million $ US.
